Should have rode in my truck at Havoc. I change nothing when going from the street to the dirt.

And the ride is incredible. Ask Big Blue, Ironman, Kevin, Dustin, Ted or any of the # of people that went out on the truck with either Heather or Myself.

No setup can do everything and you have to make sacrifices at the expense of something. I've seen people with fox 3.0's trying to adjust their shocks to try to deal with the high speed big whoops/jumps that the West side of Michigan offers on certain trails. There is a reason Fox is not putting quick adjustments on shocks.

I in no way meant to start a debate/argument on what's better. If I can find somebody that has properly adjusted ICON's, I'd love to go for a ride so I can get a more accurate comparison between the Stage 4+ Fox setup that I've ridden in.

Jason fox is now offering the quick adjustment knobs as well. Corey had them on the set he installed on Randy's truck. I'm not a fan if them cause anyone can just walk up and mess with them I prefer having a lock nut on the adjustments

LSUstang05 your best bet on taking rides would be to go to TRR in April if you wanna wait that long and ride with guys that have these set ups and you can judge from there cause texana offer a wide variety of terrain so you'll get a good idea of how it handles differently in each type of terrain!

One of the biggest differences between someone with a Stage 4 RPG setup and a Stage 2 ICON is the Rear springs.

IMHO the rear springs are the weakest link from the factory. No matter how good your rear shocks are if you have the stock leafs it can only become so good. The stock leafs suck.

The difference between an ICON equipped truck with stock leafs and with progressive leafs is night and day.

That would be the largest difference control wise between the shock setups. Better leafs are key to this truck!

THis is awesome thread, as long as it doesn't turn into a bash session, which its not. But i took my first ride in a Raptor last weekend equipped with the Icon 3.0s, and it was an animal, it handle so much that i was simply amazed. I'd like to do the same run with a truck equipped with Fox 3.0s. But i would have to agree, it will come down to the rear springs and the price point of the 3.0s. I don't think you can go wrong with either shocks.

I'd like to see a more in depth comparison, maybe by a 3rd party in Texas, who can again use the TMX trucks. But i'd like to see the Icon TMX truck with some aftermarket leafs first.

Do the TMX guys have any input, since they probably have more seat time in each of the trucks and i'm sure have some seat time in the other truck.

I played with the adjustments on my fox 3.0 a lot, however in he end it was Corey under my truck for 60 minutes and a run around the track to test and they are perfectly dialed in. I wrote down all the settings just in case someone monkeys with them. My only issue was going with the standard leafs on my scab. With the weight now in the back, I am just crushing them.

We have run these trucks quite a bit, and all three have subtle nuances that are noticeable. I think each owner would be partial to the setup he has, but that said, the king truck with the deaver springs performs very well. It is too bad it wasn't available for Raptoberfest, but will be at TRR 14. I will say that on light bumps or uneven terrain, the Kings are bumpy, almost like they are irritated. When you get into high speed, high compression type stuff, they shine. So much has to do with the settings on all three. The ability to adjust the king and icon has always been a selling point.

Conclusion: If you are looking for the "perfect" suspension before you make a decision, you won't find it. None of them are great at everything. You have to pick the one that is either best at what aspect you want it for based on your driving style and terrain, or shoot for middle of the road across the board. Nothing wrong with either approach. That's why the first question we ask you is always "what type of terrain do you mostly get into".

Thanks for the writeup Will. Kings in April....
