Tire recomendations

I just picked up a set of Nitto Ridge Grapplers and I love them!! It’s been raining a lot in So Cal and the stock KO2 was slipping off the line and on left and right turns. After I got the Ridge Grapplers I haven’t had a lot of traction issues. I love the aggressive look and it drives great. I also love how quiet it is too.

I was also looking at Mickey tires, local dealer doesn’t keep many in stock, they are the only dealer in the state, no Nitto dealers in the state according to website.

Open Country RTs for winter. BFG KM3s for summer. There are so many tires out there its crazy.

I was set on the Ridge Grapplers until it occurred to me the weight of them will murder the fuel economy.

Any recommendations for an aggressive looking tire that weighs similar to the stock K02 load C’s?

If I’m honest, I’m only truly off-roading once every blue moon.

The ST Maxx looks promising so far.

I guess this also trashes my plans of getting 37” wheels too.

Don't use the km3s if you are worried about noise. I agree with the toyo and nitto as they are the same company anyways. I always liked the Toyo open country M/Ts and A/Ts. The R/T is really nice as well just never drove on. The M/Ts are not that loud surprising for as aggressive they look. And the A/Ts are the smoothest all terrain I have drove on.

37" wheels huh?

There are now two 35" Ridge Grapplers - The P-Metric 315 is almost 5 lbs lighter than the original LT inch version.

You just aren't going to find an aggressive looking tire that is as light as the KO2s. I think they are around 62 lbs.

Weight is how I narrowed down my choice to Coopers. The KO2s excel in weight, and is a 50/50 tire. This puts it up against the ST Maxx, the R/T, and RGs. However, only the STs are remotely close in weight. IIRC from my spreadsheet, the Coopers were about 2.5 lbs heavier per tire, as opposed to 10 lbs per tire with the Nittos or Toyos*. Reviews are better on the ST Maxx anyway, so there's that too. My only concern is noise, but some say it is quieter than the K02. Given how much louder BFGs always get over time, I expect they'll be louder than <10000m KO2s, and quieter than worn KO2s.

I have a friend who has run every AT on the market on his farm truck. The ST Maxx has so far been his favorite by a country mile, and he thought the KO2s were among the worst.

The X/T weighs 62lbs and its been put through the wringer with a ROC staff member and the X/T performed great. The tires have a 45k warranty and a quick search with America's Tire they are $186 vs $314 for the ST Maxx.

I myself have tortured my M/T tires for almost 20k and I have zero complaints other than noise and that is only because I'm running a M/T tire for the first time (I know all M/T tires make noise but it was a shocker at first).

Spot on regarding the noise of the KM3s. Also, they are not DOT approved so getting them mounted and balanced by some shops, ie. Discount, Big Os etc. is out. The flip side is they are tough tires. We use them on our Class 1 car. Been very impressive.
