Ok..for what it’s worth..the Ford dealer in my area..who has always had a few Raptors ordered when they hit. It’s been a family Ford dealership since the 20’s. Told me today...2021..7.2 supercharged Raptor. Hefty price tag. But it’s happening. Just passing it along

That rumor has been around for a couple of years, was supposed to be 2018, then 2019, then 2020, now 2021. If you search the forum you will find several threads from a few trolls that have been peddling this story for a while. Don't buy into it.

I would not be shocked to see the GT500 engine make its way for the last year or two for the Raptor. I also expect it to be a 82k+ truck so there is that.

Nope. Not happening.

And there will not be a 2020 RAM TRX either.

But lets agree to revisit this thread in say 4 months???? It will be time for you to change screen names again then anyway

While I have seen this, do you really believe it will be in 2020? Look how long the GT500 took. And even after the release at the auto shows it is still a ways out. Just seems very optimistic to say the least.

Sam

I dunno - personally I'm not that concerned one way or another, I think it'll be an $85k-$100k truck all day long, so it'll be mostly in a class of its own. I don't think GT500 values hurt GT350 values or GT values etc. etc. I think ALL Raptors will continue to be the most sought after & highest value retaining 1/2 ton trucks on the market, period. While that fact certainly shouldn't be a top decision making factor when shopping vehicles, since they all depreciate badly relative to other "investments", it is still worth noting.

So it took a while to get the GT500 details, so what? A big part of that was the engine design, which is now done, & plenty of testing/R&D was performed on the mustang platform. Since the Raptor is ALREADY a thoroughly beefed up version of a damn 1/2 ton pickup truck w/ PLENTY of room under the hood, it seems to me that if this was going to happen most of the leg work has already been done by the mustang team as far as putting the engine through its paces, & we already know the chassis/transmission/axles etc. on the existing Raptor are up to task.

Could it be a 2020 model debut? Maybe late model year like 2020.5 is possible. And while I said it may result in discounted NEW SALES prices for 3.5 Raptors, I do not think it will hurt resale/value retention much in the long run like I said.

Also - this isn't jalopnik, C&D doesn't typically tease/rumor mill vehicles that are never coming to fruition - #1 they try to maintain a good rep as solid info source & #2 (more importantly) they also get big time advertising $$$ from manufacturers like Ford so its not a stretch to think there isn't some other motivation nudging them to drop some of these "rumors"

The mid-engine C8 vette is real
The supra is real
The NSX is real
The trackhawk is real
The demon is real
The Bronco is real
The Viper resurrection rumors proved true

'Nuff said.

For the OP's question, invoice is 7% under the base price of the truck and options are 8%. If I remember correctly Ford holdback is 3%.

As for the R&T article, as pointed out, it clearly states it is "rumor" and not based on inside information.

And beyond that, I don't view R&T as any more reliable than any other clickbaity auto website, especially when discussing rumors. Traditional publishers are getting crushed by the internet and their business models are evolving and I see a lot more low-quality, click-bait content on R&T's website. But I don't fault them because they are doing what they need to do to survive.

As for a blown V8, just look at the markup on the trackhawk, demon, etc. We're probably looking at a $20k markup over the V6TT Raptor. Without a doubt, it will sell, but I suspect most buyers will stick with the far less expensive V6TT and it won't affect resale in the least.

Thank you for the hard numbers.
