Is it really possible for a tune to cause that much wear on an engine?
I think they're referring to the harder shifts causing more wear on the drive train.
I'm currently running the 5 Star 91 performance tune. (FWIW, 91 is the best we can get in Oklahoma). Initially, the shifts were way too firm/harsh for my liking, so I asked Mike for his assistance. He immediately sent me a modified tune which made the shifts much smoother.
Regardless, eventually I will probably give the SVC tune a try, as I've read nothing but good things about it. Furthermore and based on what I've read, I'm also inclined to thing that the SVC is more suitable to my driving style/habits.
Anyway and IMHO, I don't think you can go wrong with either vendor and it'll just come down to personal preference.
I run an 87 performance tune from 5 star and my shifts aren't really that hard, is it because I run a lower tune?
I know there is a difference between the economy and performance tunes in their shift strategies, but the performance strategies should be the same. My 87 economy tune from 5* was very smooth and I liked it a lot.
And "really hard" is very subjective. Do you mean it's very similar to stock?
