You, sir, are the epitome of the Jenny buyer. What Ford was aiming for. You are either a fanboy or dumb if you think a modded Eco-shit 3.5 would perform better than a modded 6.2 Boss. I have a stock engine and I'm happy with it, but I know there are lots of Raptor owners who have SC or Turbo-ed their engines and producing over 700HP!!

The original Raptor was too basic? Sorry, I forgot it doesn't have the birds-eye view camera for you to park it. Real drivers can park without. And it doesn't have the blind spot checking thing-a-majig. Real drivers turn their heads.

Lol. Dude I'm pretty reasonable. And I think my comparison was accurate. I also think that, if a 17' and a 14' were the same price, same mileage etc, the large majority would choose the G2. Why? Because it does everything better. Faster, lighter, more travel, wayyyy nicer interior, more tech, etc. It's newer.

In all honesty, the second hand market in mid to late '18 is going to have some very good deals. They'll still be more than respective year non Raptors but the balloon will have deflated quite a bit.

was the gen1 market anywhere near as stupid as the gen 2; that is, were people paying over MSRP? And standing in line to do it?

I’m wondering what impact the prevalence of ADM in the g2 Rap marketplace will have on used sales. If any.

you sir should start a pole. noticed in your, "Why? because list", you left out engine and body style. two very important features that the Gen1 far surpasses.

When the early 10s dropped (5.4s) not a lot of folks knew about them. I picked up my 10 6.2 loaded for less than msrp. Once folks became aware of them, dealers started the markup thing but it wasn't anywhere near the shit show it is now.

I just don't get the WAAAAAY nice interior thing at all.

I've not been in a '17 raptor, but I've been in the 15+ Lariats, King Ranches, and Platinums and I just didn't feel like they were much nicer than my '13 with all the options.

What exactly is WAAAAAAAY nicer?

It sure as hell ain't the A/C seats- those suck in any Ford built after 2014. In case you '17 guys didn't know- your seat backs are supposed to be cooled, not just the seat bottom. Ford screwed the pooch on the design of the TED venting and has yet to properly correct it AFAIK.

lol i am gonna agree 100% with you. the only cool feature i really like is the raptor shift paddles. and i wouldn't have the cooled seats if that was an option on the 802a. the rest of the truck is on par with my 14 f150 lariat heavy duty. prefer the 6 passenger but 5 is cool too. reason i didn't consider the gen 1 over a gen 2 is 4a. and my 14 was work/family, this 17 is just a family toy that may never see a day of work ever. unless u accept my taking the kids to and from school daily as my job. lol

also in case you don't know about the 3.5eb, livernois and full race have a setup for a regular 3.5l eb capable of 900hp. somewhere in the neighborhood of $15-20k.

Aaron, Aaron, Aaron... Don’t be like the Harley Davidson lemmings. They remain steadfastly convinced of the 45 degree v2, 2v motor superiority a full 80 years since it’s been state of the art. Alas, they never progressed to the --proper-- V2 crank offset of 90 degrees, adopted by other manufacturers, notably Ducati, who understand what a motor should perform like and sound like. Alas, the sheer number of the HD tribe means that it will be a while until they are extinct, but make no mistake extinction is their fate. Relegated to ash pile of history, faintly misremembered by some who will wonder aloud - ‘whatever happened to...’

Time, technology and progress marches on my truck driving brutha. All too soon, v8 privilege will live on only in the memories of a few elderly starbucks customers transported from the old folks home by the short bus for an outing to starbucks and k-mart; the highlight of their week. There you will be, like an aging pop starlet who has remained in the public eye a few years too long, desperately seeking attention and adoration only to be supplanted by a younger, more attractive model with a voice than appeals to an entirely different generation.

I hear you on 3-11, it’s epic. Shelby’s parable holds true, but I am more often drawn to
If you can leave two black stripes from the exit of one corner to the braking zone of the next, you have enough horsepower. - Mark Donohue
So well written. Nicely done :)

that it an apt description of the marketplace. So long as the market will bear these price points for new trucks, the used market place is all the better.
