its a perfect example of dodge/fiat lack of quality control and what dodge has been know for over the years. Shit like this falling apart or breaking

And with their Halo truck of all things. Still remember the article that leaked where an engineer stated they had the TRX design done in 2 days - then went on to say nothing changed from their original designs for the suspension, frame, etc. This truck is not set up to take the abuses that people think they can place on it.

I currently have a 2020 wrangler, which is the third year of production for the new series JL. Same issues that existed in 2018 when they rolled off assembly exist in mine and even some 2021’s. I think I have had 2 recalls and 3 TSB’s applied to mine so far and there is yet another one coming for the clutch assembly again so that it doesn’t explode under higher temps. Their solution is to reduce HP and Torque via software update which is 100% BS.

Here is my GT350 with 110 miles on it, driveshaft fell off while I was on my driveway....

Not too mention, the OGs will certainly remember but when the Gen 1 Raptors first came out there were some serious bent frame issues that were a daily topic of discussion on the interweb.

I agree for the most part. If any company tried to guarantee perfection and zero “out-of-box failures” for every product these trucks would be the price of a small airplane.
On the other hand, driveshafts falling off is a rather serious failure. It’s a little more than than a cosmetic item.

It’s also important to note Ford seems to have dialed down the performance capabilities of the Raptor for a reason. Easy to assume they wanted to avoid over-torque and stress on components like drive shafts if possible.

eh.... the bent frame was mostly from people just running over whoops and catching air with bad landings at too high a speed. it started when stock raptors were trying to keep up with modded ones. didnt work out so well

dodge has had probs with the hell cat for years breaking diff housings and drivelines, so no surprise

FCA tends to shove these hellcat motors in things to sell units and doing minimal engineering to actually make sure it will operate with minimal failure. My track hawk snapped a couple axles and I had to spend $1500 on bwoody suspension components to keep it from destroying itself. Luckily the axles happened while I was still under warranty. Point is they love to cram the hellcat in everything but do very little to make it work properly. That part is left up to the end consumer

There is no way that driveshaft just “fell out”. My guess would be the owner was doing donuts on a hard surface and caught traction with one of both front tires.

With the engine producing its full 650 lb-ft of torque going through 1st gear, the front driveshaft is receiving 3,062 lb-ft. When there is a sudden change in traction, something has to give.

With enough abuse any vehicle will eventually exhibit a failure. In this case at least it’s an easy fix and not a blown T-case or differential.
