The Eco boost is not all that either. Let's compare.
Eco boost TT
HP. 365
TQ. 420
3.5 liter
MPG 17/23

Nissan GTR V6 TT.
HP. 545.
TQ. 463.
3.8 liter
MPG. 16/23

Can be modded to over 1000 HP

YOu give me a V6 like that in a Raptor for the same price as the current model and I'll shut up.

You forget this is a NEW ecoboost, not the old one. Its the same ecoboost going into the GT which is pushing 600hp off the shelf. Meaning the Raptor is getting a slightly detuned version of the same motor. Do a couple tiny mods and BAM youve got a reliable 600hp.

Has that been published anywhere or are you guessing against hope? De tune only doesn't sound right for some reason. Or Is it going to be more like what GM did with the LS9 and the " detuned CTS-V". Where the cts actually wasn't detuned it wasn't forged internals. So there were mechanical differences between the two. Also got a smaller blower. The raptor going to get smaller turbo's and less hardy internals along with that de tune?

Here is my biggest problem with the whole eco boost idea in the raptor and it's getting completely missed in all the hype. The SVT Raptor always had the biggest power plant. As a premium vehicle it should always have something more than the base. If now they are sharing the same power plant as the base model the price of the new Raptor SHOULD DROP BY AT LEAST $15k. IS ANYONE TALKING ABOUT A PRICE DROP?
Really the new Raptor is no more than a wider truck with some additional interior options over a fx4

It's not the same 3.5 as the regular F150, it's a H.O. version with different internals.

I bet the GT and Raptor 3.5 engines will be similar (built off the same redesign) but not exactly the same. It wouldn't surprise me if the turbos, cams, intake, programing are different between the two and maybe even the head runners slightly different. The GT is also supposed to have a dry sump. The Raptor 3.5 should still be a solid performer with "bolt" ons. Even IF the two are the exact same, I think 600 hp "reliable" is a stretch unless you're stop light racing. There's a big difference between pushing a light car with great aero and low rolling resistance around vs pushing a heavy ass truck with no aero, tons of rolling resistance thru dirt, sand, snow, mud and whatever else and keep it all together for 100000+ miles.

Also, the Raptor didn't always have the biggest power plant, the same spec'd 6.2 was put in regular F150s for a couple years. The Raptor was never about the engine choice.

Yes they will be similar but definitely not the same. No way you would have the same Cam's and probably even turbo's for the Raptor as the GT. The GT is a high revving race setup, where you will want lots of top end. The raptor is going to need lots of low to mid range power and not nearly the same top RPM.

In addition you are talking a Mid engine setup so its exhaust will be way different, and I would not be surprised to see it a dry sump. While I would love the raptor to have a dry sump I highly doubt we would see that.

My guess is they will use the same block and heads and internals.

Lund is the man! He has tuned a few of my old cobra's....even my Turbo 03 That street car hauled ass.....

I agree! Let's do this thing!

Combine this:

Roush Supercharger Kit

With a Lund Racing tune (seriously holy **** those dudes have their Raptor tune game ON POINT, especially for supercharged trucks) and you'll have a reliable beastly raptor

PM / email / call me for discounts on the roush kit, you're on your own for the tune!

The world needs more boost

I wonder how GM is getting away with it then. Most all of their platforms come standard with V8's. Seems a bit fishy one manufacturer is balls to the wall in V8's and Ford is crying 4and 6's for them?? Things that make you go Hmmmm!
GM's V8's have always gotten way better MPG than Fords. This isn't new news. 550rwhp N/A vettes getting 30mpg while similiar hp boosted cobras pray for 20. Those big ol' pushrod engines are full of torque and surprisingly efficient - especially now w/ the addition of direct injection - simple as that.

Let's please stop saying this. Completely different set-ups. One's made for high-revs and horsepower - the other for low-end torqe and mid-range. There will be completely different turbo's w/ different a/r's, cam specs, and possibly even intake runners, etc... You won't be a few mods away from 600+hp - it's just not going to happen.

Now yes, maybe the shortblock will be the same and maybe it'll be able to hold 600+hp, but it will take more than just a few mods - in addition to what Ford will be providing us w/ to get it there.

As for now - I'll keep enjoying my tuned 6.2 w/ its Roush. Instant TQ and sounds like a truck. Although I do like the looks of the gen 2... Please for the life of God explain to me why the huge FORD across the front isn't enough - does it really have to be huge as shit on the tailgate too?? Just give me the oval w/ FORD written on it for the rear. The front grill gets the point across.
