Alright I tried it and...worked for me. As long as the ignition was on all brake lights came on when the brake controller was squeezed together. Had someone stand behind just to verify.

Forgot to add, no trailer plug either. I probably should find the thread it was in to give credit to the person who posted this before. Could come in handy. After reading it I had tried it once and the car backed off but I wasn't certain then that the brake lights had come on. Now I know for sure.
