Guys, what would a list a must have mods and or needs be for a first timer at TRR ?

I don't plan on competing in any events, just doing some driving and having fun.
I hope to learn a lot about off-roading and how to use my truck properly.

Thanks,

A

There are no mods that can compensate for practice.
Get yourself some practice driving off-road if you are new to it.
Get your truck in some dirt, mud, snow, whatever and start feeling it out.

Then practice I must do. Tough to find a place near here that inst full of mud :)

I am sure there are some off road tracks in the Houston area, but my google skils seem to be lacking to find a place.

I guess by mods or needs I mean, extra lights for night driving, rescue straps, shovels, things like that.

I have contemplated a cool bumper, but I think I like the stock look as this is my daily driver.

I will be adding some lighting in the next 30 days.

Yes lights are a must for running at night and I'm sure there will be a midnight run again just like last year. And you really don't need and mods to run on texana it's perfect for a stock raptor a lot of guys ran stock last year and did perfectly fine as long as you know yor limits and the trucks limits you shouldn't have any problems. As for supplies I'm sure trey will put up the list of required things like fire extinguisher helmet a GPS helps but isn't needed. Like I said lights lots of lights is always a good thing

Maybe in the meantime you can find some local gravel or dirt roads to play on so you can develop a feel for it. Learn to "drift" through the corners without over-correcting, while giving it the right amount of throttle, etc etc. Make sure you are in offroad mode with traction delete.

You will definitely want to run (not "compete") in the

1) Friday evening "Parade Lap" - to get a feel for the track and learn about the hazards
2) Saturday morning TRR
3) Midnight runs (get some lighting)

All of these can be done at your own pace if you get at the back of the "C" class so you aren't slowing down MadCow haha! You will be hitting that track much faster by the 2nd and 3rd day as your confidence builds, and may well end up a "B" class guy when the dust settles

Two bare-minimum inexpensive mods:
1) MidPerch - pays for itself when you don't have to replace your skidplate or lower bumper pieces
2) SDHQ $100 Frame Reinforcement Kit - cheap peace of mind, and still not a bad idea even if the 13's frame is beefier (there are a lot of uh-ohs, so keep that pretty frame straight if you hit the wrong one... the trail markers do get knocked down)

Most the crazies are in "A" class

Hey! I resemble that remark!

Thanks "MotuMute". I have already done the Mid Perch adjustment, so I am good there. Next will be the Frame Reinforcement kit. Good advise, thanks,

A

If you're gonna spend the money may as well do it right go with the RPG bump stop kit! I have the stage 3 kit it's te bump stop and lead springs and man does it make a HUGE difference. But it's personal preference really other vendors also make a sweet bump stop kit as well
