Depending on your yearly miles and situation, could find a 0% down lease offer and drive something "ok" for a while, then invest the ~7-10K from the Raptor (plus whatever else you plan to put down) for the interim.

You're right that a horse fits haha. Focus RS is a good call. Appears to be hard to find though. Subaru STI was my other thought but used ones tend to be abused and new suffers initial depreciation.

They’re an antiquated vehicle; Toyota is still using the gutless old 4.0 V6 that makes no power and yet still manages to get terrible fuel economy. That’s of course hooked up to an antiquated 5 speed automatic from George Bush’s first term. They’re also cramped inside with horrible ergonomics and an infotainment system looks and functions like it was purchased from Wal-Mart.

I concur with Focus RS as well. If you want an off-road vehicle, get a Wrangler or Grand Cherokee.

I concur with Focus RS as well. If you want an off-road vehicle, get a Wrangler or Grand Cherokee.

Doesn't have to be off-road. Just snow worthy. Focus RS seems like a good idea if I can find one in good shape. If I was going to get something off-roadable I'd go back to the Nissan Xterra with a manual (also hard to find).

I would say Focus RS but better check it had the head gasket done already. Seemed to be a big problem.
I second Explorer ST or Edge ST. Lots of fun and all wheel drive.

Or you could find a SRT Jeep Grand Cherokee that would be sporty.

Do you attribute that to the current market (the same one that will pay me extra for the Raptor)? My other worry is that whatever I buy as the temporary vehicle I'll over-pay for.

Tacos are cramped and gutless, and they depreciate like any other vehicle. Never mind the fact that they start to rust out at the slightest increase in humidity.
