I think the applique looks good on the darker colors and doesn't look bad on other colors but I deleted mine for a few reasons.

I am in Florida and while the truck will be garaged at night it'll be out in the sun at the office (although I am thinking of setting up some covered parking for employees) but I don't want to risk fading or cracking.

I am also am super bothered by the way the tailgate applique does go to the ends of the tailgate.. I love the blue and know I'd be able to see the lack of coverage... (and yes i know it's incredibly minor but once I noticed it I know that's where my eyes will go)

It's a painted piece, so it should not crack or fade as long as you take care of it like any other body panel. The fenders, hood, and wheel flairs are painted composite as well.

I ordered an 802a package 18 in LB and wanted the appliqué, I got window sticker last week and it says it was deleted! Now I am thinking about how to handle it when I take delivery. I like the way it looks and gives contrast. This may lead to some more price negotiations before purchase is finalized.

SAME THING happened to me! I specifically told dealer not to delete! I refused delivery. If you order a 70K truck it should come the way you ordered it! Sucks that I have to wait for a new one but they are compensating me.

Saw this today while out at lunch with temp tags on it. No stamped tailgate here, but I guess it could be a 2017.

My 2018 does not have the applique. While I don't dislike the applique, I actually kind of like the stamped F-150, too. I mean, face it...that's what it is!

You must abuse your vehicles or leave them outside baking in the sun all day. Mine stay inside my garage all day until I get home from work.

The cracked plastic thing on Explorer tailgates is common. I see just as many cracked as I do that aren't. It's a design flaw in the part- it has nothing to do with how it's used or where it's parked.

Nice thing about all of this tailgate non-sense is you can swap the gates easily with one that's of your liking.

I like the stamped F150 too. Reminds me of the trucks from the 70s and 80s with their big ass stamped FORD letters.
