So I did a search and couldn't find any thread like this.

I'm going to be ordering a 2012 soon and I was wondering what are the pros and cons of a SuperCab and a SuperCrew. I do haul an enclosed trailer with with my ATV and dirtbike but I'm not sure how much they weigh and a 18' ski boat. My H2 tows these fine but it's got a tow rating of 6,700 lbs. Also, I'd like to put the ATV in the back and I checked that both payloads would be fine for the weight of the ATV so I'm not too worried about that.

I really do enjoy the extra space for the SCREW but I rarely ever use the rear seats in any of my cars anyway.

What's stopping me from getting a SCREW is my budget, really. It's $50k out the door that's with taxes and licensing and not a penny more. My pops set the budget so there's no arguing with him.

I just wanted to get a second opinion on the SCAB cause I was really set on a SCREW before the price bump...

Thanks guys!

Lol, I just found it... I'm quite sleepy myself so that's my excuse...

Sorry guys. A mod can delete this thread if they want.

I have a SCab and enjoy its look more.

Not to long ago you would be hard pressed to find anyone with an extended cab truck and even more so a crew cab truck. The crew cab was once a truck for construction companies to haul a 'crew' to the jobsite. Infact Ford was the first to offer a crew cab halfton in 2001. Since then it seems crew cab have become the norm as more non-truck folks have been using them for hualing more groceries than a halfton of payload (I realize halfton is an antiquated term).

For me, I came from a 03 SCrew into my SCab, and though the current SCab is not as big as the current SCrew, it is not like the extended cabs of previous generations of pickups.

The back seat is adequate for the day to day grind, and could even hual a full size adult on a trip under 2 hours or so. My 18 month son fits fine in his front facing car seat on the passenger's side.

Now the SCrew does have a larger tank (36 over the SCab's 26) so its fuel range will be better (but fill ups will hurt more but less often, so choose your pain). The SCrew is around 1 ft longer, and as out Jeep friends have showed us, short wheelbases high-center less. I don't know if off roading is your intended purpose for your Raptor?

I purchased my Raptor at less than a year old with 13k miles on her and it seemed to have saved me around $10k and I even got a free bedliner out of the deal. So perhaps either buy a used 2011 or wait for a used 2012 (though I know waiting sucks). But I was bit by the Raptor bug about 2 years before I ever sat in or drove one.

Best of luck friend, I hope I helped.

Just all things to consider...

verytalonted,

thanks for your response. That really did help a lot since I've been drooling over the screw for the past few months. I did consider buying used but that's now out of the question.

And to answer your question: I will not be off roading. I did it in my H2 and it was fun but the damages from this Georgia brush and trees are not worth the fun. (Maybe if I had a cheap jeep or something)

I hear ya on that last part, Mesquite in West TX runs rampid around here, so I have my 67 Bronco (not the F150 ones) for my offroading, though my Raptor has seen her share of WIDE trails (dont wanna scrathch her)

Glad I could help:waytogo:

Ultimately, it depends on the usage but here is my opinion;

1) I like the Look of the Supercab over the Crew Cab. Overall, the scab has a better "proportion" look to it.

2) If offroading, the scab is also better as it has a shorter wheel base.

3) The scab weights a bit less so It will be slightly a better performer.

4) scab is a few grand less.

on the other side of the coin;

1) The crewcab is better if you are transporting more than 2 people on a regular basis.

2) The crewcab is better if you do alot of long driving as it has a 36 gallon tank verus the scab which has a 26 gallon tank.

As I first stated, it all depends on your usage, but at the end of the day..........I prefer (and am waiting for mine to arrive) the SUPERCAB! :peace:

don't quite agree on the proportions, the s-cab just looks a little mismatched to me with the 5.5' bed. Still looks great, but just not proportional to me. Although after driving a 2000 HD extended cab with 6.5' bed for the last 11 years, putting the 5.5' supercrew bed on the extended cab just looks un-normal to my eyes.

But hey thats why it's awesome Ford is producing BOTH cab configurations, please as many people as they can!
