Does anyone know why the crew has a much higher towing capacity than the cab?

Stiffer rear suspension.

Where was this published? I know that there were some changes in the FRONT because of the longer wheelbase and the weight, but I don't recall anything changing up in the rear.

I don't know if it was published. It just might be an assumption. I know my screw is stiffer all around than the scab I've driven.

Unless you find a cheaper screw, it sounds like you have no choice but the scab. However, you really need to find out just how much your total weight on your trailer is. Sure the scab will tow more than the 6K it's rated for, but if you get into any kind of mishap, and you are even slightly over the 6K, it will cost you dearly. The state weights and measures departments (any state) don't mess around. Personally I went with the screw for this very reason. I had a travel trailer that loaded weighed 5450. I hitched it behind my friends 2010 Scab, it worked ok, but it always felt like the trailer was pushing, you really had to drive the truck, felt worse than what I normally pulled with, an 06 Expedition. Also the tongue weight made it sag more than I wanted, even with the weight distributing hitch. So I ordered a screw, traded up in trailer size, now 7900lbs. loaded and there is no sag and it doesn't push me around as did the scab. For me the screw was the best way to go. Also, and I'm sure some will disagree, the resale value will always be more on the screw.

Congratulations with that.

I like the looks of the Scab, more sporty. I have 3 dogs and thought about the Screw (with the extra leg room...because thats 12 legs), but opted for the "origional" Scab for the shorter sporty looks.
