So glad I optioned mine without a sunroof.

I'm with you. I thought about it when I ordered mine, because I think it's a cool option, but not enough to want it on a truck I'm keeping a long time. I know in my one car that has one I can go a year and never open it, and most times the sunshade is closed also. It just seems like it's so often too hot, too humid, raining, or the sun is blasting in my eyes. After the first year or two, I would just leave the thing closed and enjoy the auto A/c, and music. It so rare that we have the nice medium temps where it would be cool to have a sunroof. That's not even getting into the rattles, etc, it can introduce.

So essentially when the glass closes you will have the grease sandwiched in between the glass and rubber and they won’t stick.

Now the question is how long is too long to have kept the roof closed before even starting this regimen? I imagine different environments have different effects on the seals.
Yes but it won't be greasy. A little goes a LONG way. Another tip, if you think your sunroof might be sticky is to FIRST vent it, that sort of breaks the seal a bit, then close and fully open.

So basically tap the switch enough to crack it open and then close and reopen. Gotcha. Better to be safe then sorry. Probably had it open 9 months ago maybe. When it was new lol. I’ll grab some of that lube as well. Thanks

apply a thin layer to your finger then rub around the outside of the seal. It will work mainly on the corners is what you want. The roof will pop when it is hit with enough heat and humidity. This pop sticking will lead to the eventual breaking of the plastic which becomes brittle from the heat/ humidity.

He means tilt it up in vent mode. Then close it. And then option it completely

If it’s been a long time, gently push up on the glass while opening to the vent position, to help it.

I’ve seen on the internets that you only need to do this once, then cycle the glass to the rear

Spoke to my service advisor, sent pictures and video and they have ordered the parts. Having it fixed in a couple of weeks. Seems the area of the part that broke isn’t a big deal as it’s just the leading edge.

Any reason the old reliable Vaseline will not work? Just curious...

Im guessing environmental conditions might be tough on it and it wouldn’t last as long.

High temp wheel bearing grease would work. But imagine that odor in the cabin. I’m going to try that Mission Automotive.
