Got a 2012 6.2. It will randomly hesitate to start. For example, started up fine this morning after sitting all night. Go to start it leaving work and it cranks strong, then for a split second sounds like it wants to fire, then cranks for another second before starting up. It will idle and run perfectly fine. It’s been 2 weeks since it last did this so it’s unpredictable. Made 3 stops on the way home from work and it fired right up every time. Fuse 27 has been relocated, maf sensor cleaned, cleaned air filter and battery terminals. New starter. Other than the above issue the truck is great. Any ideas what would cause this?

yes. get a good scanner on it. not just a code reader. those sometimes wont read everything. if you got a pc laptop, get forscan and grab whatever dtcs are listed

Is the OBDLink Ex on Amazon good? I think that’s the one forscan recommends on their site if I’m correct? And is it easy to read codes in forscan?
i think thats the one. whichever they recommend, go with that. you need to email them for a free (2month?) code to gain full access to the system. from there anytime you need access just email them again. or if you are a shop, you can buy a permanent code. but once you have full access, you can easily read codes. just dont change anything until you 1) made a backup of your truck and 2) know what you are doing. bad shit can haooen if you just go in and start changing parameters.

I’m not looking to change anything. I just simply want to read any codes that might be stored. Do I need to do the whole backup thing if I’m just simply reading codes?
