Strange issue!

It was WATER in the connector! Shorted the hot lead over to the headlight. Cleaned it, fastened it and use a zip tie to hold it tight and then taped the $hit out of it. If it does it again I'll get another one and splice it in.

Did you apply a light coating of dielectric grease to the terminals? That helps keep water from shorting the connector.

What Ford one said. Had the same issue and thought it was the craziest thing. Turned out water was getting in the connectors. Filled them full of dielectric grease and problem solved. Has not come back since a year ago plus.
