Hey,
I bought the sto-n-sho license plate relocation kit from cj pony. I did not like how it still blocked the intercooler partially. It is way better then the stock location of the plate, but IMO still cuts a significant amount of air flow to intercooler. I heated the end with a torch and bent it straight up and down, then i got a u-bolt from a hardware store and mounted to my tow hook. I does take away the use of the tow hook, but worse case there is the other one up front. If you go offroad you can pull the pin on the plate holder and remove it.

Nice! To finish it off, I've seen another forum member put lil black plastic plugs in the factory predrilled holes.
There's a thread here somewhere. I think he got em in Amazon

Is there anything to stop the mount from rotating downwards on the tow hook?

By the way, I have a feeling this thread is going to turn into a discussion about the grill rather than the license plate mount.

Wow. Just wow.

It looks like by your heating it up it actually lowered the plate mount anyway? Is that correct? If so why not just put it where it's meant to be in the center with it lowered?

And regarding your plastic dip each to their own... but I would have just been happy with the yellow license plate

If the posts they gave you on the plate mount were longer that would work. The way it is mailed and the angle and length they give you leaves you with little choice

it doesn't move up and down because the flat side is bolted tightly to the hook, it did move side to side until drilled one of the holes in the plate out larger so the u-bolt was completely snug. See photo below
