GEN 2 Steering wheel issue

Hello,

I’m having steering assist malfunction service required msg, and the steering wheel is acting heavy ? What is the problem ? Any body faced this issue before ?

Try disconnecting the battery for 30 minutes. That should reset the system fully. Most issues that will go away electronically, will go away after this.

If that doesn't work, it could have been a faulty part and you might need a dealer to help out

I did disconnect for 1 hour

Dang, I have a '13 not a new one so that is all I've got, hopefully someone else can help you better than me, but that is of the ideas that I had.

Truck has electronic steering assist. The electric motor is more than likely throwing the code for failure. May even be unplugged, who knows.

It happened to me in a parking lot. Do a google search. It was like 10 times ignition cycle and something. Boom just turned back on and been fine ever since.
