changing to mid perch should have no affect on warranty- if ford didnt want adjustable hieght settings they shouldnt have had fox build the shocks for them with adjustments. Even if alteration technically voids warranty almost every dealer wont even notice- but then again why are some dealers willing to do the perch mod. I wouldnt worry about warranty issues with this mod. Just my .02

Wrong. Unless your shop is building, standing behind, legally defending, and warranting these trucks under the fomoco brand, I wouldn't give advise of what is and isn't covered under warranty. Its obivously you don't know. Fords been pretty straight forward with dealers about perch mod voiding warranty. There's even a tsb about shock adjustment voiding the warranty. Whether dealers want to follow the warranty guidelines or not is up to them, and how much they care to risk the franchise rights or foot the repair bill when and if the time comes. In the end, Fords position is; perch mod can void warranty depending on the compliant and cause of the condition. To tell people to go ahead and do it because the dealer won't notice, or because the dealers do it, or because fox shouldn't put the grooves there in the first place, is ignorant, and ultimatly puts the risk on the owner. Im guessing your shop makes a few bucks off perch adjustments, and that's why you'll openly tell the Internet not to worry about perch mod and warranties. Sounds like a pretty shady way of conducting business with zero concern for customers risk.

Who are you to bash me or my shop!!!!!!!

I think I have a right to speak from experience. We charge 250 with alignment to do a perch mod when ford dealers charge 400-500.

Did you know that I have ford dealerships from all over the country calling my cell phone to help them fix the clunk- they dont know how to fix it or look for insight. I help ford owners and dealers all day long answering these calls cuz ford wont help them!!!!!!! I just had a customer drive all the way from ohio cuz the dealer could figure out what was clunking in the front end. I have plenty of credability on this board and speak from my personal experience with dealerships. They call me for help and have no problem covering warranty items on modified trucks including perch mods. BTW We warranty anything we touch.

tell me what I should do when they call me???? Should I start charging them a consulting fee????

My shop has the rep it does for good reason. I take great offense to the implication of steering customers in the wrong direction or I am scamming them in some way. Speak to all my customers then post what they say.

He gave his opinion, notice the $.02 at the end of his post? Can the perch mod void some part of your warranty? Maybe, but even if it does it would more than likely only be for the shocks. Calling someone's business practices shady is a bit over the top and I would feel the same was as Dave.

We do perch mods 2-3 times per week and I have never heard of any issue with warranty. But I guess that's just up here in the north east. And every truck leaves with out the clunk it came in with. Crappy lower shock bushing/mount design is the cause. Buts that's right its normal..... Sorry to crap on this thread which I never do but I don't take kindly to being called shady after we work so hard to help dealers and especially raptor owners fix problems ford refuses to admit exist just because it will cost them money.

i have heard great things about KHC from vendors and from customers, and putting his own rep on the line this dave does on this forum and in the raptor community is enough for me. i'll be having all of my work done by his shop because -- **** the warranty -- if a man's word is his bond, that's the kind of man i want to do business with in this world.

sorry for the thread-jack.

Ok people and this is for the folks that don't understand the way this works. The above is the truth -- period -- end of story. The Raptor is suspect right off the bat because idiots buy them and think they are a trophy truck and do a lot of things they should not. Ford knows this and because it has been going on for years now the service departments are informed you might say the Raptor is a red flag for certain issues. For ANYONE to tell you that a mod will NOT have any effect on your warranty is just plain stupid period end of story. The modification of the perch settings is a sensitive subject for Ford and you can bet that the next generation will not have that option.

Do not care what someone who does not have any credibility with Ford or the ability to influence a claim you might have that could be impacted by performing a perch mod or any other modification for that matter because when you are stuck paying for something you can bet they will not be writing you a check. For those of us that have been dealing in this arena of modified vehicles for over 30 years it is just a hard cold fact that you “pay your money and take your chances” with modifications. In the past there was more “goodwill” repairs being made –now not so much.

To the people and I see it in almost every thread the comments about “this is a 50k truck” really—big deal the Raptor is a lot less expensive than some of the fully decked out oil burners so that has nothing to do with it. Try taking your truck in for a “weeping” shock like I did and you will find that there is guidance in the OASIS system that defines leak and it is a whole lot more than what is considered a leak on other types of shocks on Ford vehicles.

Just know what you are getting into when tinkering with your truck—it really is not rocket science….

Im not gonna take the stupid comment seriously. Thats stupid. Bottom line is this thread started cuz the dealer used by the person posting couldnt get the steering wheel straight after a alignment. Service 101 stuff. I invite raptor owners to contact me when they need help or info. I speak from my experience as said ealier in this thread. If that makes me stupid Im ok with that.............
