I have this odd nose that just started this weekend. It only happens when I am moving in reverse. It sounds like am old man in a rocking chair going eee errrr eee errrr eee errrr. As soon as I put it in drive there is no noise.

I had @RaptorWifey drive the truck in reverse in the drive way while I lay on the ground, I couldn't pin point where it was coming from. Sounds like towards the rear.

I was thinking that it may be the drive shaft or universal joints.

What should I check out? :driver:

My guess is U joint. Drop the driveline, you will be able to tell if it is a U joint, as it will not be smooth as you move it through its range of motion.

The driveway and parking lots I'm backing up in are completely flat.

It sounds like a squeaky spring, but to only happen while going backwards is strange.

When you say drop the drive line, what do you mean? Drop it in gear while moving?

Chris Kelley from Freedom Motorsports helped me with an issue I had, but it was not a squeaking spring. It was the drive shaft. This video shows how to remove and lube, and Chris has the right lube. Mine happened in forward and reverse, but most noticeable in reverse up an incline.

The grease is "AMSOIL GPOR1CR-EA Synthetic Polymeric Off-Road Grease" but I am not able to find it on the Freedom Motorsports site. You may have to contact Chris directly.
