Being heavy isn't always an excuse for being slow. My Tesla Model S P100DL is a 5,000lb full size sedan and still does 0-60 in 2.4 seconds and a sub 11 second quarter mile in completely stock form.

Driving a truck like the Raptor is a different kind of performance than a sports car. It really isn't about being quick. I usually drive much slower when I'm in the Raptor. It makes me feel like taking my time, accelerating slowly and taking curves at low speed. Probably ****** people off behind me.

Whereas in the Tesla I usually instantly leave traffic 1/4 mile back at every light because the acceleration is so crazy, even if you don't really get on it. Then I'm the one pissed off at the slow ass gas guzzlers in my way.

i just dont think it should be compared to a sports car at all. a truck should be compared to other trucks not cars. my bike should only be compared to other bikes. comparing my bike to the truck is useless, as well as comparing a sports car to a bike or a truck

I’d like to see some drag race videos of the raptor and all other trucks, Ram / 6.2 GM , and the standard 3.5 eco 150. I know there are some on truck talks but they are racing in Denver which the elevation I feel skews results

I've owned a few sports cars; A built motor 350Z w/ 700+WHP and a GT-R w/ Bolt Ons. Because of this, my tolerance is high and I was underwhelmed with the Raptor power. Sometimes, under the right temps and settings, it feels ok. But for the most part, it's a fast 'truck'...at best.

But when I take my friends for rides, they feel like it's faster than I say.

I love the Raptor, BTW. I just don't drive it around thinking it's on par with even cheaper sports cars.

Doesn't skew results, other than adds +1-2 seconds on all the times.

As of currently, I believe the fastest stock truck is the 3.3L Ecoboost F150 (that, or the 2.7). They make less power, but also don't have to turn 35 inch all-terrains.

Here is the stock Raptor losing to a stock F150 3.5L eco. (Denver skewed...)

You draw your own conclusions, but 6.73 sec from 0-60 is no where near modern sports car performance. (Or the 26 year old Viper times of 4.6 seconds...)

This was done a mile above sea level.

Gosh, you guys think the truck is/feels slow by comparing it to numbers from 911, GTR, Viper, Corvette, Tesla, etc. Nobody asked if the Raptor is the fastest vehicle out there—because we all know it’s not.

But if you compare the truck to ordinary and common “sports sedans” like the Nissan Maxima or the like, it can certainly keep up. OP’s question wasn’t clear on what he is trying to compare the truck to.

If you bothered to read the title of this post, you’d know why the Raptor is being compared to these cars. Some people really need to learn to remove their emotional attachment to their truck. I really enjoy my Raptor, it’s by far my favorite vechile I’ve owned to date, but I have no problems admitting it’s slower even compared to my past luxury sports sedans once you’re above ~70mph. It’s not beciase of the way it sits or any other illusion either. It’s physics. The mass of this truck and the drag it needs to over come, slow it down significantly at speed.

Does that matter to me? Not so much, I rarely go past 80 in the Raptor and I, as well as most everyone else in here recognize it’s not intended to be a high speed canyon carver. We are however answering the question that was asked and being honest about the performance of the truck.
