SPORT MODE SUCKS

I'm simply unimpressed with SPORT MODE. My truck Kicks ass, pretty sure we can all agree on this together.

I've had multiple F150 EB's, not once have I been a fan of SPORT MODE and/or found a good application. (I'll be driving an 18 Shelby Cobra this weekend, I'll be trying Sport Mode)

I have been looking at the peddle commander, do you have one?

Yes I have a peddle commanderand like it. Better throttle response without all the other issues all these guys seem to be having dislikes of. Your vehicle will act just like it’s in normal mode except your throttle response is like being in sport. Gives you that excellaration your after.

I like sport mode but not for driving in traffic.

Tow/haul mode is better for accelerating in traffic.

Normal is so tame that sometimes a Prius will pass you lol

Honestly, why would anyone use sport mode in (heavy) traffic? I think it's great for open driving. But when I'm in my daily commute, I'm usually in standard (too lazy to switch it) or tow/haul when I want something a little different.

Or, for a non-truck analogy: My miter saw is great tool, but doesn't rip cut well. Does that mean my miter saw sucks, or that I'm using it incorrectly?

Not to argue my friend but Sport mode is for off road use as indicated in your owners manual, page 270. “Use for off road spirited and aggressive off road driving situations” just saying. Also, all this talk about traction control and outside shock adjusting is not something you want when in the dirt! are you saying Ford designed this thing backwards? I don’t think so my friend.

Actually, the Raptor guide says this:

"Sport Mode - For aggressive on-road driving. Sport mode increases throttle response, provides a sportier steering feel, along with quicker shifting. The transmission also holds gears longer, helping your vehicle accelerate faster. Suspension stiffens with emphasis on handling and control."

Page 28 in the Raptor supplement guide. Not the generic F150 guide. Generic F150s don't have live shocks in case you didn't know. Just saying.

And yes, you don't want understeer in the dirt friend *****.

Sport mode in traffic.... why?

I see your point, but as others have stated, the intention of sport mode isnt to be "that guy" in traffic.

Nobody ever drives fast/aggressive on the streets.. who would ever do something like that?? I forgot most of us are die hard desert racers running C-16 race fuel with spotters etc etc etc..

in all seriousness- we all have a pretty good idea on what SPORT MODE was designed to do. I personally think SPORT MODE sucks in these trucks. (F150's and Raptors) Maybe if the increased shift point differences were about half of what they are now this feature would be enjoyable for me. Just my thoughts.

If you guys are enjoying it, I'm happy for you guys. I look forward to finding an application where I can enjoy it.

I stand corrected my friend. The sup does say on road for the Rap. Thanks for the heads up. It just a bit harsh for driving in traffic for me.

Get a tune. Even just the stage 1 93 tune with Cobb, sport mode feels 100% different to me, and the fact that you can adjust pedal responsiveness from there as well. Race car the Raptor is not.. I've had plenty, but with a tune it'll damn move - without the tune it felt sluggish to me.

Driving aggressive on the streets is not the same as driving aggressive in traffic.

I play with sport mode when the roads are decent frequently. I'm a decent human being when the roads are busy enough for me to be able to complain about how the shift points are held too long (aka held too long when you dont have the room between cars and stop lights to use sport mode for what it was designed for).

Sport mode could definitely be better though, again, to your point. Everything can always be better. If you want it better, get that thing tuned.

FWIW - it’s an adaptive tranny, I’m not 100% certain on this, but it seems based on my experience the more you drive in sport mode the more it “smooths out” - I’ve been using it a lot more lately, and I do know what you guys are saying about holding gears too long or harsh abrupt shifts, but keep in mind you’re the one asking the truck to change shift & throttle parameters.....so you may wanna think about changing YOUR throttle inputs via the right foot- I can get sport mode to feel almost identical to normal if I make an effort to adjust on my end.

Until I get tuned I’d rather be a little light on the throttle in tactic just leaving it in sport Mode so that when I want sharper response & more aggressive shifts (and keep the auto start/stop function off) all I need to do is stomp on it

I thinks what’s missing is a a Normal mode that hits all the gears. Without stretching out each gear or shifting hard, and without holding a gear when off the accelerator (like Tow mode).

The current Normal should be Eco mode.
