I’m hooking up my Baja lights tomorrow. Do you think this kind of hookup is possible?

Light setup on my truck.

This is the kit - https://www.bajadesigns.com/products/Ford-Raptor-2017-Fog-Pocket-Kit-Unlimited.asp

All lights on with high beam

Outside wide beams (S2 Pro Wide Cornering) on with blinker, but not blinking

Please wire (and cap) for 30” light bar behind grill (all on with high beam) - I will order one soon.

Upfitter 1 - selectable to be all on with high beam. So when this is on it is triggered from my high beam and all lights are on. When it is off, normal oem lighting.

Upfitter 2 - when on, all bumper lights are on - when off all bumper Baja off - regardless of any other switching

Upfitter 3 - when on, 30” light bar is on regardless of any other switching, when off to he 30” light bar is off.

I have been told not to try and trigger anything off the factory lighting harness, it will eventually brick the body control module from it seeing the extra load (even from just a relay).

I am going to look at adding a floor dimmer switch for the spots and future 30" bar. The dimmer would probably control the ground on a relay to open or close the circuit from the stock upfitter wiring to the lights. The upfitter switches would arm the lights, the dimmer relay would complete the circuit.

Thank you for this insight. I am going to do some research about the Body Control Module. The idea of a dimmer switch is a good one.

I would love to do exactly what you are considering and have the auto high beam feature activate my spots and S8 bar too. Here are some related posts by @FordTechOne that convinced me it’s a bad idea.

There are several threads about doing exactly what you want to do without complaint.

Well, I did exactly what I wanted. But I went to the most experienced installer in Seattle. I had a big discussion with him about the BCM and he convinced me that he has done this on lots of Raptors and Super Duty’s and has never seen a problem. He installs stuff like this on McLarens, Bugatti’s, etc. so we will see how it works out.

Yeah, the relay ‘draw’ couldn’t be that much, it’s just a trigger. I realize the electronics are pretty sensitive, but I’d like to hear some 1st person accounts of a properly set up relay trigger off the high / low beam circuit causing some kind of mayhem. I realize, dropping a pair of 6.6 amp draw B/D squadron pros might cause a problem, but a relay?

He already has chimed in about this. He said it may work for a while, but it's a matter of when, not if, the BCM will get bricked. That's plenty for me to ditch the idea. I was ready to hook up a relay until I spoke to him about it.

Hopefully I’m not the guy a few years from now chiming on this thread with bad news. Stay tuned. If anyone could get this right, this dude will.

a relay takes less than 200ma to trigger. with all the wiring we have done on these trucks over the years, i have yet to see a fault and a module need to be replaced. another option could be an lvt such as a tr7 module. then use it to power a standard spst/spdt relay
