Downpipes on a supercharged platform? I can't see much a performance gain to be had here. There is not even a noticeable exhaust note change. In the 3.5 SPD downpipe vid the sound is dramatically different vs stock.

That’s not true, a catless or hi flow cat setup on the gt500 usually picks up a good 20-30 whp and these pipes are all 3” vs half 2.25 and half 2.5” of the stock ones.

I'm guessing(hoping) they used the term "downpipe" since most of their customers are probably used to the Ecoboost platform and would know what this is compared to calling it a mid-pipe.

I actually had this exact same conversation with Jacob over at SPD when he was telling me about them. I think the proper term would be "crossovers" as these pipes go from the exhaust manifolds down to the rest of the exhaust. Normally it would be a Y-Pipe, but these pipes don't actually connect until you get further downstream. But yes, downpipes are what they're known for on the EcoBoost side of things so that's why they're calling them downpipes.
