I know this install isn't supposed to be easy. That is the main reason I opt not to do it myself. But this finding a professional to do it, is a story of patience!

First thought I'd take it to the shop that installed my muffler. You know to give them some business for a good welding job. Took the adapter in to them a little while back and explained where it goes and what it replaces.. Got a firm "no", they cant do that. Even asked reason why, and the manager said that tech didn't give a reason.

Not too long after, I went to a second shop. This time I was a little smarter and instead of just explaining the idea, I printed and showed the SPD instructions. They were at first hesitant but after looking over instructions, they said they could get it done in about 2 hours with $90 an hour labor. So I set my appointment and after they raised they truck, they came back and said they would have to drop the whole exhaust system to get to the adapter. 4 hours, double the charge. Uhhh, No. Had them pull my truck out as that doesn't seem cost effective.

Third shop I went to was a little smaller. One man business. He looked over instructions, put the truck up and said he could get it in about an hour for $100. Nice! But, there is always a 'but'. After the nuts taken off a stud, he had a hard time removing the stud with the included stud extractor. I told him that it may require heating and he wasn't comfortable with that. So end of modification there, buttoned up and on my way.

Think I may need to find a "Fellowship of the Adapter" to see where people go for this install. More specifically, am I just on a bad luck streak with shops as I know pple have done this themselves!

Lol, I took one attempt, and it looked pretty ******.

I called a shop, and they said they dont touch turbo cars/turbo housings. it is too difficult and too risky if they break anything.

Went back and gave it another crack and got it done.

Sucks for exhaust shops and shit to not want to do it. Good luck! It isnt THAT bad.

I had seen that video. But since my tool set consist of a power drill (with most bits MIA), a pair of pliers, a hammer, a leather-man, screwdriver and a small socket set somewhere; I didn't have the big league tools to start this. Not to say I couldn't acquire them to include a torch with extender, a laser temperature sensor and a REAL stud extractor among the other goodies. However the time and resources spent would probably be equivalent to professional install price.

Professionally also will prevent this six oclock news headline.. "local man in freak accident under his truck with a blowtorch, more after break".

Door is not fully closed on self-install... Just going to ping other shops for a while longer and perhaps have three things for them.. explanation, instructions, and video!

Thats my video...

The included extractor will not work. I couldn't get the one that they sell for extra to work either. The one that works great is the one from Oreilly's auto parts. Heating the hell of out of the turbo is required as well.

Hope it helps

We can help you locate an install shop in your area. Give us a call.

PM,d thanks. Just tried another shop today. When I was on the phone with them, they said 'no problem' and they had all the tools necessary. Turns out they used the included stud extractor and didn't use heat.. So, they broke the tip off the first stud they tried! I am beyond disappointed and let them know that. This makes this mod extremely difficult now.

4 shops, 4 failures.. What luck...

What would Ford say if you brought these plates in for installation?

I'd rather pay a place a little more to get it done right the first time. I've got a speed shop near my house, but when it comes to messing with something difficult that is connected directly to the turbos, I'd think I'd rather get it done at Ford.

This is exhaust work, don't ya'll have a good exhaust shop around you? Like Meineke? Those guys are used to dealing with removing manifold bolts and shit...
That being said, I'm going to do this myself just for some self inflicted torture.
