Well, cuz the idea with a raptor is you could be out in the desert, or offroad somewhere where you don't want to be stuck with some POS wheel/tire?

Duh. I would use a good tire, but hardly anyone uses a beadlock, so why spend the money on a Raptor wheel? Even when you trade or sell it, most would never even realize that it wasn't the original wheel.

We live in great townhouse community in Lincoln Park (Chicago). It’s on a cul de sac so no through traffic unless you live in the community and a very safe and family friendly area. I feel like the raptor was specifically targeted as there are plenty of nice SUVs right around me that have spare tires as well....but that’s just speculation.

Never had an issue with crime the past 5 years....and just my luck we are moving to the burbs next month...

What I meant was, if I was the victim, I wouldn't replace it with a Raptor wheel. Why spend the extra money on something that you likely will never use, and if you do, it's only temporary.

I thought about that but my ocd won’t allow me to do that. I need my original equipment on my rig. Luckily Raptor50 on this forum is selling me an unused spare for a good price and Dustan is hooking me up with the mounting system. Thanks for helping me out with a ****** situation!

Not to rag on you or your choice of residency and for sure, this kind of thing can happen anywhere, but, density housing is a magnet for property crime. No matter how many precautions you take, it’s always a chore to keep your stuff your stuff. Now to be fair, I had my car rifled through in a high income barrio of single family homes about a dozen years back. Ironically enough the thief got caught and I got some stuff returned. It was a h/s kid with nothing better to do, visiting friends. But when I was younger and could only land a townhouse - like you, I nice place when we moved in, within about 5 years we had a lot of turnover, rentals, and more transient traffic. neighbor had his shed --cleaned out-- of his tools - over $10k worth. There were some assaults, and as things went downhill, crime definitely went up. Wife and I decided we needed to **** then. We moved not too long after.

Do yourself a favor: move somewhere else before it gets too bad.
You can still land a smaller, SFH if you want less lawn care, more free time. You can even still keep the homeowners association lifestyle if that’s your thing. No judgment... As for me, I am proud to be HOA Negative.

Thanks Smurfslayer. Yea, we wanted to stay in the city as long as possible so we went the townhouse route. More space, garage, small yard. Lincoln Park has always been a great part of the city....but it’s still the city and you get all the bad that comes with it. We have an 11 month old so we were originally hoping to have a few more years left in the city....but corona quickly changed our minds. We close on our new place in the burbs on 11/9....can’t believe this happened so close to my move!

hey, at least you saw what happened and learned from it. Not only are you safer generally in the ‘burbs or unincorporated areas, you’re not as exposed to highly communicable stuff like flu and china virus. You’re also, as a result, not as subject to the kooky paranoia surrounding it.

I’m saddened you suffered for the lower elements of humanity, and I hope your new place offers better conditions.

If you have a rent or sale sign might have flagged somebody, I went from the burbs to the BUFU... never had anything happen until I had a sign and prior to closing on selling house. Somebody was trying to steal my barbecue grill from the back screened porch.... it was a $200 barbecue grill. My screen door was very tight and it slammed into the grill when they were getting it out and alerted me and they ran. It would have been terrible for somebody to get killed over $200 grill. Good thing they decided to high tail. I lived in a decent neighborhood with a 1 acre lot I. Panhandle FL. Good luck over there!

So took a little drive today and noticed something. My auto start/stop was not working. Now don’t get me wrong, I hate this feature and have it disabled 99% of the time. Hard for me to believe something around my spare tire could affect the start/stop feature? Anybody have any thoughts?
