Someone tried to steal my truck

Was about to leave for work today when I noticed the panel covering passenger side fuse box was completely ripped open. Nothing in the truck was taken, not even money in the center console. As I was driving I noticed the horn didn't work and when I checked the front, I could see someone had clipped the wires from through the grill. I'm wondering how the thief managed to get into the car but didn't have any luck in actually stealing it? Also what was he hoping to do by getting into the passenger side fusebox? I just started keeping my keys in a faraday bag I got off Amazon since an acquaintance of mine had is brand new Tundra stolen. I'm wondering if that helped me somewhat. Now I'm wondering if I should add even more security measures like GPS or something. It's getting crazy out there!

Damn! Somebody else just had their Raptor stolen as well last week. Lucky they didn't get yours, maybe they got spooked. Wonder how they steal these trucks without the key, must hotwire with new tech I guess. Any damage to the outside? How did they get inside?

There is a way to capture the signal from the Key and duplicate it. I bet your faraday bag foiled their device.

I hate a thief...they are better off cold and underground. Hornady critical duties with a 43X help my anti-theft system. You might be on to something with that bag. Maybe scrambled all signals or something. High tech problems require high tech solutions. Glad it worked out for ya.

Check both door handles and look for prying on the plastic plate/surround that is under the pull handle.



Common low tech entry method by use of a flathead screw driver (as an alternative to the key fob clone).

The lock cylinder is then attacked.

Door handle will still continue to function and method generally defeats the alarm in my experience.

Sucks! Glad the thief wasn't successful. Can someone please help me understand how the faraday bag would have helped in this situation? Can a thief clone or mess with a fob that is inside the home, from outside? If so, I am getting on ASAP. Thanks in advance!!!

Sorry for veer … this is exactly why one shouldn’t leave weapons in vehicles if at all possible.

I just started keeping my keys in a faraday bag I got off Amazon since an acquaintance of mine had is brand new Tundra stolen.

So does that mean every time you enter/exit the truck you first have to pull a key out of the bag to lock/unlock/start the truck?
