Sold my '24 R, here's why...

Ok…so I like the R, but it didn’t give me a wow feeling. Let me explain. The low end torque on it seemed like I was driving a Raptor w/ 37 not a 720 HP beast. To really appreciate the power you gotta get into the higher revs and then it takes off but can’t really do that too often. Outside of the engine, the R is pretty much a 37 (minus a few things) and I loved my ’23 w/37. I’m glad I checked the box on R, but am I going to miss it—no. Is it a killer truck, no doubt, but for a daily I don’t see the use (for me). If it had more of a punch taking off maybe would be more compelling for me.

I talked to the GM at dealer I that always work w/ directly, it was an easy decision to make the move back to a ’24 w/37 that just rolled off truck. He gave me $125K for my ’24 R (which I thought was strong), and he sold me a new ’24 w/ 37 for $6745 off MSRP. Think I could have done better there, but didn’t care as cut me back a check and brought home the 37.

As to ’24 w/37 I don’t care for these rims (23 had the best rims IMHO); the graphics are way too obnoxious vs w/ my ’23 so will probably just pull off; replacing the chrome lugs for black ones (did same on R and made it much better).

There was a thread here a while back where a bunch of R owners were selling for very similar reasons and @WTX warned me before I bought mine--well you were right. Anyway, no regrets, but happy to be back in standard ’37. I have a car problem in general, so these things don’t bother me. I once bought another car because the SiriusXM trial had run out and was too lazy to sign up so just bought another car. As I said I have issues. Love the Raptor no matter the flavor.

Thanks for the post. I was debating getting an R, but held off for some reason. I test drove a few, but it didn't get my blood pumping anymore than a 801A or a 37 package. I thought about it and got a 2024 Raptor with the 801A package. I looked at the 37 and something didn't hit right with me. I went from a 17 Raptor, to a 24 Bronco Wildtrak (bad decision) to a 24 Raptor with the 801A package and couldn't be happier.

If you were happy with all the other aspects of a R, couldn't a tune or the pedal commander as mentioned, be an option that would let an owner "have it all"?

I can't help but wonder if there is some buyer's remorse from the op. My 23 is a rocket, and the bs about a trx being better on the low end??? No freaking way. There are no trx in my area that can hang with my R on the low, mid, or high end. Been daily driving it since Otober of '23, and just hit 10k miles with zero issues or complaints. Also drove a '24 and I notice zero suspension difference. Seems to only serve as fodder for discussion on the old interwebs. Plus it's orange, can't get that on a '24. You guys are stuck with ******* green. Lol

If I may chime in, or not ? I do have a view (first hand experience) of vastly improving your Raptor V6 EcoBoost in comfort, ride and horsepower enrichment:

* Intercooler.
* Roush Cold Air Intake.
* Tune.
* CR Stage V (5) Turbos.
* Injectors.
* Fuel Delivery System.
* Ford Performance Oil/ Air Separator. A.K.A. Catch Can.
* Low Temperature Thermostat.
* Spark Plugs, with a new gap measurement.

** Total Parts and Labor: $11100.00.

*** It's only $20825.00 less than the Raptor R Option Package 803A @ $31925.00, from a 2024/ 2025 Ford F150 Raptor V6 EcoBoost without the "37" Performance Package (802A) @ $11470.00, that's a s-itload of $$$ in my opinion, and "yes" we bought that 37 performance package in 2023, and lately, I don't believe it's worth it, based on these certain 37" tires in the marketplace and these fairly new: Vossen HFX-1 wheels. As far as the Fox Live Valve Rear Shocks, they are nice, but not for $6000.00 or $7000.00 "nice"
