Ford build quality is dogshit, especially coming when going from any German car to a Ford. I had a few loosely assembled body panels that weren’t tightly fastened into place. Feel like the truck was assembled in under an hour by a guy named Bob, Buck or Beau...

This could have all been avoided if the counter point would of included "at a similar price point" or something like that.

Doesn't everyone agree that engineering usually results in a series of calculated trade-offs? If $$ were limitless, then I think all the arguments I see here with "absolutes" would have less to argue over.

What does any of his have to do with Raptors anymore lol? Lost track.

Uh, that was a joke, but true.

So I return to either fan the flames or tamp them down.

Forums are fun places. I come for laughs and to learn. Some replies here, and I just read every one, put off a date with my right hand to do so, and one or two were actually quite informative. One mentioned grinding down the head of the bolt. Now that’s a good idea, however difficult that would be on the very confined space.

Yet another mentioned there is a reason body shops have special tools. Perhaps I should’ve paid to have it done st one.

Another mentioned the very simple thought that YouTube is our friend and I could’ve found a video on removing a stuck nut in a nondestructive way.

I think many also here missed my opening line of my original post where I demeaned myself as I often do, even in a jocular way.

I do appreciate all replie here. I’m far from perfect. I don’t expect my Porsche or my Raptor, regardless of price, to be perfect. Nothing is nor ever will be, perhaps with the exception of my right hand in a pinch. Now on to that.

Well, I went to a Ford dealership's service department for the first time since the eighties, I was in the BMW service department about 5 times in the five years I owned one, that should be seen as a good thing for Ford since during that time I've owned a Taurus, Contour, three Mustangs (one was a Cobra), three Rangers and five F150s. I did have a 2004 Lariat that went in a few times for the front window regulator problem, but it was my wife's truck so she took it in keeping my streak alive.

Last Thursday, shortly after telling a coworker that I've never had a warrantied issue on a Ford for ~30 years, the check engine light came on, clearly my fault. According to the manual it is not a "check engine" light, it is a "service engine soon" light. According to the manual if the light comes on and stays on (no blinking or flashing) it means that an error was detected in the emissions system and it should be brought in. Since I just crossed 6,000 miles I figured I was due for an oil change, but the gauge said I still had 27% life remaining. I told them go ahead and do the oil since it is already an 8 month old car.

The results of 24 hours at the service center is that there "was no oil visible on the dipstick".

!!!!!!!!!

Okay, before I get flamed for never having checked my oil (yeah yeah I know), this vehicle was purchased new (ordered actually) and had 7 miles on the odo when I picked it up. I don;t think I've ever checked the oil level on a brand new vehicle before. I have just barely over 6,000 miles and was at least a quart low? No signs of oil leaking, no blue smoke on heavy acceleration. Did it just not get filled at the factory? At no point in those 6,000 miles did I ever seen the oil can light come on, that light indicates a problem with the pressure not the fill level though. They checked the oil for metal/bearing shavings, declared it clean, filled it, reset the code, and drove it around. They say it is "fixed" now.

I wonder is Porsche ever lets one leave the factory half filled with oil.

So if you didn’t check the oil at delivery, you don’t know if it was low to begin with or not. 2018’s have a valve cover replacement for trucks that use oil that you may want to check on.

Well. As long as you learn from your mistake. Hopefully, your engine has no long term effects.

Check your oil a least 1x a month, new or not. And hell yes. The 1st thing i do with a new car is check the freaking oil. no telling if you had a Monday car (start of week, workers take their time and do it right), or a Friday car where the line worker was only thinking about what bar he was going to after work.

Yup, I accept the blame but have never had one under-filled at manufacture or one that consumed oil driving down the road. I've had plenty of oil consuming rides, but all were way over 100K mile jobs that "marked their territory" in every parking lot they visited.

Check your oil a least 1x a month, new or not. And hell yes. The 1st thing i do with a new car is check the freaking oil.
Wondering now about the transmission, or the diffs, or x-fer, or PS, or brakes (at least coolant is visible)...where does that end and you just trust the warranty? I'm thinking your answer is never.

Negative (GhostRider, sorry...cannot resist) I saw something about a TSB but details are sketchy.
