Maybe you lost the vacuum line to the iwe's when the cv joint blew apart, no vacuum and they stay engaged

You can drive it but you need to remove the axles. Then you need to disassemble the drivers side axle and insert the inner cv joint cup to seal the hole in the diff. The pass. Side is not open so you can just remove it. But that will leave your wheel bearings and iwe's open for contamination. If your iwe's are broke you will see broken white plastic prices in them and the steel gear teeth will be worn or damaged

@factive the front axle/cv-shafts (base part number 3A428) are covered under Powertrain warranty (5yr/60k miles). Don't disassemble anything, call the dealer, explain what happened and they should send a tow truck and should all be no cost to you. If you start to disassemble, the dealer may (and I say 'may') deny coverage.

they're claiming that because of the suspension mods that it wont be covered under warranty. I called BS on that so they're calling in for an inspection or whatever they call it from ford.

What mods up front do you have?
Nevermind: see your mod list (don't see it on the phone)

I'd like to look into this a bit further, factive. PM me your details: full name, best daytime phone number, VIN, current mileage, and servicing dealership. I'll see what I can do to help you out.

@FordService Crystal - I have to say I'm quite disappointed about the lack of service that I received from your customer service dept. I've been without my truck for 8 days now because the rep who was assigned my case can apparently only try calling the service manager at the dealership once a week. Even my request to speak with her supervisor was met with a someone will call you back within one business day. Seriously, it takes a day to call me back? Not only that but she willing admitted that she wouldn't even try to have the truck covered under warranty because it's the dealers decision on what is/isn't covered.

I know that each time I modify my truck that I'm running the risk of repairs not being covered under warranty. And I've been more than willing to step up to the plate and cover repairs that have been caused by those or damages that I caused while offroading. But snapping a cv joint & blowing the whole IWE system while pulling out a stump at 0 miles an hour and five feet of distance is complete BS. How did my larger diameter shocks cause this failure?

For the record, Ford customer service is outsourced to a group in Florida. They aren't even employees of Ford and from my experiences they really could care less. They have no customer focus and it amazes me that Ford continues to contract with them. I got hold of a supervisor that was a pure ******** and I even went above his head to his boss. That guy was nice for the one time I got him on the phone but did absolutely nothing what he said he would do and never followed up or called me back.

The trick seems to get someone who works at Ford and this being the toughest, one that actually truly "cares" and has the authority or knows someone who does that can actually do something. Seems these managers have titles but nothing more so they are limited what they can do (would hate to have a position like that). Two guys here I helped contact the executives, yeah Alan at the time and Bill. The executive assistant are the ones that respond and for both those folks, took care of them. Theirs was more serious, as in a replacement raptor and I believe an engine.

But going through idiots at Customer Service will more likely get nobody anywhere. I think its a place to wear you out and run you in circles so you will give up.

Sorry Crystal but something needs to be done even if it needs to go above someone's head. Everyone who is paid by Ford is there because of us (the customer), without us everyone at Ford would have no job.
