Only reason I like the fob over a standard key w/ chip is that it avoids key scratches on the handle. You can't avoid getting little scratches after while unlocking the door with a key. It's bulky, but better than a standard key IMO

Are there lights on the fob to indicate on/off status?

It's not great. It only seems to report on the status of a remote start request.
Basically, you push lock, then the remote start button twice and it tells you if it worked or not. It does not stay illuminated and doesn't even flash on lock/unlock.
