Couldn't they just use NFC tech in a cell phone so you don't need anything? Proximity of cell allows you to unlock by touch and start car?

That's stupid.... they gonna give you a free cell phone with the purchase of your truck?

No obviously, but you should be able to program or pair, or whatever the term is, the NFC specifically to your phone after purchase. You'd still have a fob as a backup. Just like there are NFC devices you purchase separately for use with your phone.

Bluetooth pairing is an option too, but I've found it too slow on things like house locks I've tried and I certainly don't want to stand and wait 10 seconds to get into my truck.

Ford H92 / H84 / H85 80-Bit (SA) Transponder Key (ILCO) [ILC-H92-PT] - $8.95 : American Key Supply, The Locksmith's Source for Keys & Tools

Ford H92 / H84 / H85 80-Bit (SA) Transponder Key (

This key has the 80-bit 4D63 chip, but is also backwards-compatible and completely replaces the 599114 key for older Ford models.

I ordered 1 of these . I want to see if it will work as transponder. If key fits, maybe use it. Probably cut key off

I asked these people if this would work. They wouldn't talk to me as I was not worthy

Hmmm, I'd be very surprised if that worked but it would be awesome if it did. I think it's a different level of security in the older transponder than the new ones. But I really hope you're right. Great idea to try!

I have to say, the range on the giant fob is impressive. I can remote start the truck clear across the lot. Great for those cold days when you want to climb into a warm truck with yout latte. :)
