Maybe this is why.... one of many reasons, I can't stand Sirius

FM radio = potential 720 kbps equivalent, depending on source and signal
Pandora One = 192 kbps
Pandora Free = 128 kbps
Live365 = up to 128 kbps, averages 32 kbps over 3G data
MP3 = most people use 128 or 196 kbps, but obviously, it can go higher or lower

Sirius XM = variable bitrate between 4-64 kbps. Before the merge Sirius was using a 34 kbps constant bitrate.

Most FM stations, satellites and music services use digital files ripped in the 320-384 range as their source.

I have a XM radio I used in my old truck and now at work. It sounds 10x better then the ****** one in our trucks. Sirius didn't merge... they took over XM and ruined it.

On the way to the ranch 3 hours away I get some intermittent play back but it's all I can get radio wise. Just load up the mp3 or cd. Gets me by.

I noticed the same thing with my Escape, Sirius sound quality stunk. With every Ford I have, after the 6 month trial ends that's it. Who needs to pay for Sirius when you have the ability to program all your own music via the USB / Bluetooth?

Why would anyone pay to hear the same 25 songs on any given station over and over?

"Heres the same ****** Black Sabbath song you heard 30 minutes ago *******

While we're at it we'll throw in a couple of paid ads on your commercial free Satellite radio that you're paying for...woo hoo rock on brothas"

Give me good ol terrestrial radio with 36 station presets (free), an ipod with 6000 song library ( not so free) or some bluetooth streaming audio from the smartphone. Satellite will die with Howard Stern.

The Real Truth and nothin but the truth.

Stern is the only reason I have it but I listen to fox news, ESPN and some others a good bit. For music I have Pandora integrated into my Kenwood deck. I get the same half price deal every year from SXM so its not really a big deal for $86 a year or whatever it comes out to.
