Unacceptable 4x4 system.

I have a 2014 Raptor with the roush package I purchased on January 25, 2014. It has the dreaded popping noise from the front end in 4X4. It has been to the dealership twice and a total of 20 days and counting. I even gave the dealer the VIN from another fellow board member that had the SAME problem and IT WAS FINALLY FIXED CORRECTLY. At first FORD said that big ass popping noise is normal (YES I have it in writing), then on the 2nd try the dealer already replaced the transfer case and now it is in a holding pattern from Ford for over a week now "waiting on a response from the tech line". The truck only has 2,000 miles on it and has been in the shop almost 3 weeks now. This is uncalled for on a $70,000 truck. At first the dealer would call me every day and give me a update. NOW I call them several times a day and no one calls me back for days. WTF???

THANKS!!!

Mine is at the dealer for the same exact problem , it all started the 2nd time it was in 4x4 mode. What's funny is the # 1 Ford Dealer in the world said they would have to call the Ford Tech hotline to see if they had any advise on a fix for this problem. I would have thought this problem would have come up many times before in the past with as many forum members having the problem daily.:mad3:

I'm close enough to Detroit and crazy enough that I would drive to their offices, wait outside and follow them to lunch in 4x4 with it popping and ask hey guys WTF?!?

Man, I just laughed my ass off in my cube.

Reason being - I could see myself doing the exact same thing.

OP - that's ********. I would be raising hell too. I'm not in your shoes, but I think I would hold out a little more.

I have the documents. It is on pavement during rain and snow.

Using your 4x in the rain on pavement is what is causing your issue. Snow as well if it is only a slight dusting.

How long did you wait to get your truck? I agree it should be perfect, but this one is having an issue. It will be a shorter wait to have the dealer fix it right than to start all over.

Have you contacted the new Ford rep Crystal? She seems to be very helpful.

Good luck and keep us posted as to the resolution.

I own a construction company and have over 50 f450 and f550 trucks. ALL 4 wheel drive. I have had over 300 4 wheel drive trucks and NOT 1 has ever done this. It is so violent that it shakes the dash and steering wheel NON STOP. It feels like you are neutral dropping the transmission every 10-15 seconds. It's not the little pop when it goes into 4 wheel drive. It's violent.

But this truck is probably the only one with a Torsen locking front differential.

It sounds like it is binding up. Obviously not working right.

PM Crystal and see if she can help.

CORRECT!!!!

Maryland lemon law states " If you suspect your car is a lemon -- for example, if the dealer has tried once or twice unsuccessfully to repair the problem and you believe the problem substantially impairs the use and market value of the vehicle -- you should write to the manufacturer immediately. You do not need to wait until the dealer has made the four repair attempts, or until the car has been out of service for 30 days."

HELLO this is a FN RAPTOR made to go off road. CAN'T do that when the whole front end feels like it is going to drop off the frame in 4 wheel drive. I took the service manager out for a drive and he almost S*%T his pants when it started banging and popping. He said "OH HELL NO THIS IS NOT NORMAL".

I lemoned a Trailblazer back in 2001 in OH. It was an absolute pain in the a$$. I was told that to lemon you had to meet one out of four presumptions. 1. Same safety issue fixed 5 or more times, 2. More than 6x's for same issue, 3. Out of service for more than 30 days, 4. More than three separate issues. Or something to that fact. I had to go through arbitration with the BBB. That get dismissed with the dealership saying I was a problem/picky customer. Then finally went through the State Attorney General's office. Wasn't until then GM bought back my Trailblazer minus whatever mileage I accumulated. It was a pain.

Lemon Law is complicated and depends on your state. You must follow it EXACTLY or you are SOL. Done this on 3 different vehicles and time are tough now so you have to go through the entire process.. Meaning not anymore "goodwill" buy backs.
