on phone with them now and guy says it is sold.. waiting on pickup...

Damn! They definitely go very quick!

I'm local to them as well (although not where I bought mine). Didn't they have a black one as recently as last week?

I'm not sure.. I don't go by there every day. I'm actually North of Savannah (Rincon area), but I am equidistant from OC Welch in SC and JC Lewis in GA. I was in talks with a guy at JC Lewis to order one for MSRP, but when I found the one at OC Welch in stock and with pretty much all the options I wanted including the restricted carbon fiber, I jumped on it. Been very happy ever since

Well you have a few things working against you at this point. 1st, dealers are selling out of their allotments fairly fast if not already. 2nd Ford limited the production amount even though its no longer SVT. 3rd lots of people want the truck so bad they are willing to pay above msrp. Having said all that, keep you head down and call some of the dealers in the middle of the country. Maybe youll get lucky. Imho, though just wait and order a 2018. We are 5 months into 2017, typically 2018s come out in oct-Dec, so im guessing you can probably order a 2018 in like 3-4 months and dealers will have allotment again. Also go in at the end of the month. Dealers like to close months out with sales on the book.

Ford didn't limit production on the 2017 Raptor, and the orders for the 2018 start in two weeks on the 15th (or around then).

I don't understand the mindset of refusing to pay over MSRP. If I was hungry enough, I would pay $30 for a Big Mac. How bad do you want this truck and how much is your time worth?

I paid $4k over MSRP without a second thought. I was lucky enough to be able to afford it and I wanted the damn truck. I get in my new Raptor every morning and not once have I ever had a regret that I overpaid for it.

If you can afford MSRP and you are spending hours a day looking for your Raptor, just pay the overage and get what you want. Or give up and stop whining about it.

In the meantime, I'll be enjoying my new overpriced Raptor.

That was quite the analogy. Big macs to raptors? lol.

4k is a bit more reasonable, but its frustrating when every dealer you call gives you an offer for 15-25k over msrp. Regardless of whether or not you have enough money in your pocket, who in their right mind pays that much when the price is going to drop in a few months. Im no financial expert but you're pretty much just throwing away 25 thousand dollars just to have a car a few months before someone else. Obviously thats just the way she goes, but most people can't help but feel a bit frustrated, for the right reasons.

back to your question - well I guess to some people a month of their time is worht 25k?

i would pay maybe up to 2k over msrp as a 'convenience fee' of not having to travel, provided it was the options i wanted but i could never see myself pissing away 10-15k like most dealers in nj are asking

All I did was call, be polite, and let them know I would be a buyer at MSRP. Most say no at first. Sometimes they will go ask the boss. Just be prepared to thank them and let them know that if they change their mind, that you are serious.

+1 for this. I started off by being sort of adversarial cause car dealers tend to be the worst. When I switched tactics and was very polite and said I couldn't really afford $5k over since I needed some room to be able to travel to go pick it up and take off work I got much better responses. Within a day or two I got 3 for $2-3k over.

For those who recommend ordering 2018's be prepared to wait a long, long time. If they do the allocation system like they did it in 2017 you might not get your 2018 until mid 2019. If you find one you like for $2-4k over, pull the trigger.

Hopefully they got their shit together after the 2017 orders and have everything figured out for 2018. we can only hope

Extremely unlikely. Unless they go back to the month-to-month allocations there's no way to know when your order will be built. If you guys are happy to wait more power to you, but it may be more than just 2-3 months. The larger dealers that have sway with their Ford reps will have more power to get theirs pulled first which means they get theirs to the market sooner and can charge a premium. It is a backwards step for customer transparency and hopefully something that comes back to bite Ford. I love my Raptor, but this buying experience was one of the worst I've ever had.
