I was feeling the same way. Finally found a dealer that was asking 5K over and paid them a visit. You won't get them to go down on their number over the phone.
I went there at the end of the month... talked to a sales rep, let them sell me on the truck a bit, had them check out my jeep for possible trade (even though I never intended to trade it), told them they weren't close enough on the trade and said if I take the trade off the table, but increase my down payment and if they could go down on the 5K over MSRP to 2.5K I would do a deal today.
They took it. I was happy to have a SCREW now at 2.5K over instead of waiting until 2018s or continuing my search. Resale on these things is ridiculous anyway and with good credit the financing isn't bad.
Bottom line, in the end you have to be okay with writing the check. MSRP is suggested retail price. The market will dictate the actual price just as it dictates the resale value that is super high on these things.
But don't expect them to negotiate with you over the phone. Find one of the ones asking 5 and go pay them a visit. The salesperson will help fight the battle for you with management especially near the end of the month when they are trying to make their number.
At least this is what worked for me. No regrets on paying a bit over MSRP.
Good luck in your search! Let us know if it worksout.
