The process of buying my Raptor is proving to be a pain in the but...as far as dealing with my salesman. First, I will say this, my salesman has been good, for the most. All of my emails are answered in a timely manner and with phone calls as well. However, the negotiating process has turned into a battle. He wants to sell at a certain price and I want to buy at a certain price. Now, I have heard all of the cliche terms used by my salesman and expected them as such. But we are so far apart on price, the deal may never get done. With much thanks to this forum and my own research online, I have been able find invoice pricing on my Raptor. I have also read all of the posts, stating people buying for $500 - $1000 over invoice. I WANT THAT DEAL! My salesman has assured me that there isn't a dealership around that will do a deal for $1000 over invoice.
Now here's the part where I ask myself, "Do I call his bluff?". I have seen my dealer's name show up in posts numerous times. In fact, it's the reason why I chose him. But, as far as a deal goes, I am getting a completely different person. Now, do I show him all the information I have and prove him wrong about the cost of the vehicle OR do keep it to myself and continue to battle. In the end, I want to make sure I negotiate with integrity and not violate any "unwritten rules" or "rules of engagement".
So, do I call his bluff or continue to play the game?

go to his manager as a new identity. Call from your wives phone, whatever you need to do. Get his info, and just go through them.

When I contacted my dealer via email, I explained on the first email that I found their name in this forum and their $50 over invoice pricing and asked about buying a raptor. Their website shows that Raptors are excluded but their reply was yes we do that for Raptors too. I provided all the options I wanted and I received a reply with a list of each item of what MSRP was and what Invoice was. They added the $50 and showed the $249 doc fee. Signed the bottom of it and scanned it and sent it back. Salesman called me for a credit card deposit. The next I was emailed a DORA. Done.

Call Louisburg Ford in Kansas, you can place the order immediately $50 over invoice plus $249 fee. EASY AS IT COMES!

Also you don't have to have it delivered to Kansas, you can have them deliver it to you. Its beautiful!

I dealt with the sales manager direct. Once He agreed to order my Raptor at Invoice price he turned me over to a salesman to do the paperwork. After I ordered my Raptor I received a call from a salesman at another local dealer. He advised me that "We aren't going to be able to find you a Raptor that you wanted & won't be able to order one for you". I told him that was all right, I have already ordered one from Auto Nation & said goodbye.

If they order you a Raptor at Invoice they are still making money, just not as much. Try dealing with the Sales manager, Internet manager or General manager.

Or take ButterZ3's advice & order from Louisburg.

You need to walk away.

My strategy was to email as many internet salesmen that I could with what I wanted, broken down, line by line of their prices. I even itemized sales tax - because I was trading in a vehicle - and in MD you only pay taxes on the difference.

It all came out to $500 over invoice. With haggling back and forth I found 3 that would give me the same deal. I played each dealer against each other - emailing them each other's offers and asking if they could beat it. Eventually I chose the one that was the closest (40 min drive).

They did try to bone me at the end with a trade in which is understandable, when you think about it, your vehicle depreciated a little. But, when we got the paperwork going they miscalculated the original prices and I got back about $480 and I got them to throw in some stuff.

I gave Bob my dealer and contacts. Told him to drop my name - not that it means much - but maybe it will help him get a deal. I was a good customer and if you treat me right, I'm a loyal customer for life. Already rethinking my plan of getting an M5 and looking at a GT500 in a year or so.
