Good advice here. My technique is to tell them that the deal is invoice less half of the dealer holdback. (Which means that you are splitting the holdback with them, they get half and still make a profit. It's a fair deal.) Firm, direct, no uncertain terms. If they balk, you walk. If you walk, have a card with your name and phone number on it in your shirt pocket. Give it to them and tell them to call you if they decide they're really in the automobile business. I paid $41,000 plus tax for my 2011 SCAB.

SVTBob18,
First off collect your thoughts, make sure you know what you want....
I visited my local dealership FIRST. I told them that they would get the sale if they were within $500.00 OVER the best price I could find. I then visited ALL of the Ford dealerships in the region...16 of them, getting the best price from each. Took about 2 weeks in my off time. I then went back to my local dealership, and talked with them, the prices from all of the other dealerships in my pocket.
The salesman priced out my Raptor...2013 Blue Flame SCREW, 801a, Moon roof, front/rear camera, bedliner.....and came in $1700.00 below MRSP.
I wrote them a check on the spot.
They BEAT the best price I had obtained elsewhere...by $500.00; (ie I had told them I would pay them $500.00 more than the best price elsewhere...net savings $1,000.00!)
Do your homework. Take your time. Be polite.
It's your money...you can buy where you want!!!

No way. Dealer holdback is less than that. So, if my math is correct, they sold you the Raptor you wanted for less than invoice and more than dealer holdback? Come on...are you sure? They actually lost money. So basically, they paid YOU to buy the Raptor?

Way too much work for only $1700 off MSRP and visiting and talking with 16 dealership, screw that. I never left my chair in front of my computer and did over $3000 better than that.
