Should I buy an extended warranty?

My salesman told me if I decided I wanted one to come in before the 3-36 is up. It's been a long time since I've owned a vehicle that long, so who knows what will happen this time?

I never buy warranties on anything. But once I got a raptor and found how much fun it is to beat on it, I also purchased from Flood the first year before 12k miles. I opted for the PremiumCare 7yr/125k with $200 ded. It was around $1700 at the time. Best decision ever. Most of all my ESP warranty work hasn’t been because something just stopped working, all of them have because I took it off-road and things prematurely broke before the typical F-150 would. If I never went off-road, then I probably would not have purchased the ESP but then again, If I wanted a street queen I would have purchased a King Ranch or Platinum and traded within 3yr/36k.

I too am coming from a Lexus LX 570. I have never owned a Ford. I must say Mercedes and BMWs were a nightmare for me. I posted in the oil consumption thread about my friends 2019 raptor. Driving it was what sold me. It drives extremely well, and I must say was really fun to drive much more than my Lexus. On the way back to Austin he told me it started sputtering and check engine light came on. It’s been at the shop now for 3 weeks. They replaceed two valves. The service manager said after driving it told him he can’t be sure that Shavings did not get into the engine therefore they are replacing it. He says he has never had an oil leak in it, or at least not that he could see. The service manager says it was an internal leak and the engine was burning it. I have seen a few posts about this and hoping it will be corrected in the 2019. Had a Mercedes that had an oil leak that cost a fortune. With In a month the left and right airbags( suspension) went out and dropped it like a low rider. $900 for each side. The two BMWs had too many problems to list. Eventually one was bought back because in 4 attempts they could not stop the moon roof from leaking. I have owned 2 Lexus. LX 470 and currently an LX 570. Zero problems. I am a single male and tired of the soccer mom looking automobile. LOL . I’m still on track when order banks open to get my 2019 Raptor. I just hope it’s a good decision.

I had a 2012 Toyota Highlander that we bought new, and I babied. After it hit 100k miles, we spent about $8k on repairs after a valve spring broke and later a problem with the transfer case. The entire engine and transmission was required to be dropped out of the car to be serviced. They just don’t make cars like they used to anymore. Everything is over engineered and expensive to fix.

I came from Toyota as well and decided to hedge my bets when I bought my Raptor since it is my first Ford and because of its complexity so I bought the Premiumcare warranty with the loaner car coverage.

One advantage to buying the ESP early is that the loaner car coverage starts immediately and will provide a loaner car even for repairs under the 3yr/36k warranty which dealers will sometimes do but are not obligated to do.

No extra warranty for me, the factory warranty is enough for me to decide if i will keep the car long term or not...
