Should extended bumper-bumper warranty cover this?

Took my 2012 raptor with 42,000 miles in for an oil change at the beginning of July. When I went to pick it up the service guy told me about two leaks that I had, a transmission leak and something around my rear differential (I forget exactly what he called it). Luckily they told me that my extended warranty that I payed for covered me until July 25th, so I was scheduled an appointment on the 9th.
When I dropped the truck off I made sure to mention any other problems I could think of with to make sure it was looked at before the warranty expired. I told the lady that the rubber door detents (not sure if that's what they are called) in the door jam were cracked and that I have abnormal wear on the steering wheel where the red strip is. I took her to the truck and she took pictures to submit to the warranty people. Well on Friday I got a voicemail from this lady saying the steering wheel and detents were approved by the warranty department and were put on order for me.
Today I got another call from the same lady saying that they were not approved, the steering wheel would cost $800.00 without adding in cost of labor, and she had no idea about the cost factory door detents and that it would have to be sent to some body shop if I wanted to pay for it. She seemed to not recall that she had left me a voicemail a few days ago saying the complete opposite.
So my question is, what do I do? After two weeks with my truck all they managed to accomplish was fixing two leaks (maybe). Does the fact I have a voicemail saying it was approved and put on order help my case? 68687fa062fb608197b8f6187a4c2e7c.jpgef8ba78fee84e33ff076bb01cc520ed3.jpg

Several folks here have gotten the steering wheel issue fixed under warranty. You are not alone on that issue. I would present the voicemail that it was approved and fight it, got nothing to lose. Would talk to a manager right off the bat though.

In regards to the worn door detents, I would highly recommend just spending the less than $100 and upgrade to the door detents 3.0's, I did the first week I owned mine.

But if you are just wanting stock, I have my take offs still. PM me if you want to discuss getting them.

Hey @RDFTS, great call on door detent 3.0. I have the same problem as @memberthttime92. This is a great product that I never knew existed. Ordered a set tonight. Thanks

No problem, glad to help. The driver side is pretty easy but the passenger side following the instructions is madness. Take a look at my post and someone posted more pictures later in the thread. Do the passenger side this way and you will thank me later. :)

Got my steering wheel covered under factory warranty at 30k. Wasn't nearly as worn as yours though. Took it in for that and alignment due to drifting to the left. Bad news was they gigged me for alignment cams since they couldn't get my front end aligned within spec and now it's worse than it was. Figures.

I'd like to look into this a bit deeper, memberthttime92. PM me your full name, best daytime phone number, VIN, current mileage, and servicing dealership; I'll see what I can do to help out with the steering wheel and detents.

According to what I see, pictures of the steering wheel (base part number 3600) were not sent in for prior approval. It appears the steering wheel and the door check strap (base part number 1522886) should be covered under your extended warranty contract until 60,000 miles or 7/25/15 (tomorrow).

Get with @FordService to make sure everything goes smoothly. Crystal is your best asset for this situation.

Just got off the phone with the regional warranty manager who told me that the dealership decided it was not a defect and that since it is past the standard 30,000 warranty that there is nothing that they can do to help me. She suggested that I get in touch with the dealership. Being that my warranty ends tomorrow I would like to get the problem fixed as quickly as possible. I haven't picked my truck up yet and am still driving the free rental that my warranty covered, any opinions on what my next move should be?

Find another dealer? It's obvious that this dealership sucks.

That's what I did, my dealership that is 2 miles from me is absolutely terrible. Now I drive 30 miles away to another dealership that understands what customer service means.
