Ok you guys... take it easy... he's weak like a cat right now. Hell it was just a few posts back we were really freakin out on Cody "putting out feelers". Now if he gets talked into selling this storied truck of his and does a backflip into that girly man car, I'm gonna kick some ass around here.

Just happy you're coming back around buddy. Now take some deep breaths and we'll get ya through this. LT's a good thing, and more HP is very do-able in one configuration or another - fine get a navigator engine or whatever just keep this cool truck. It fits you like nothing else! You're already kickin' ass on the 6.2's - hell he weighs 130. Like a Raptor jockey haha

The S4's are sick whty and that supercharged 3.0 is all business. I have the same motor in the A7. I don't know of any other cars clocking a 5 second 0-60 time yet runs 28mpg on the highway. That being said, I would still prefer your raptor over one if it had to come down to making a decision of one over the other. Good call Cody.

So wait, the less powerful 5.4 is quicker than the 6.2 in real world testing even with a 100hp deficit. So in order to make the 5.4 even more powerfully insanely quick, HP is desired via supercharger, headers, and bump sticks.... If numbers aren't everything, then why go thru the trouble of trying to add more? The irony is thick in this thread...

Gotta agree with J-train, if you really wanna do it right, ditch the 3v sohc for a 4v dohc.

The s4 wasn't me wanting something faster than a 6.2. It was wanting something very fast in general. 0-60 under 5 seconds. My decision to keep my truck and supercharge it is getting the best of both worlds. I have a raptor that will be very quick. My truck doesn't lack power right now. It will spin the tores on dry asphault. I went pretty much anywhere I wanted in the sand, the one place that will show power deficiency on anything. I just want that throw you back in the seat straight line power. I want it for the feel an that extra power on the road. Not just to be faster than a 6.2

My weak link 5.4 out drags a 6.2 in the sand. Just needs a cam, supercharger, and long tubes and it will be insane.

Going to run pretty funky with just a cam...better install a pair of cams lol

All things being equal, the 5.4 (in the sand, in the sand!!!) Will take or pretty much tie a 6.2. The 5.4 can hook up better, and the 5.4 will launch on you, it will take everything to catch it. I was saying the same thing, about it not being able to beat the 6.2. The only truck that consistently beat Codys 5.4 was a tuned 6.2. And it wasn't by no means destroying it.

If you don't know how to modulate the throttle and just smack both trucks WOT, the one with less power will of course hook up better, and the one with more power will have a harder time getting traction unless you know how to work that gas peddle correctly. And once you're spinning, it takes more power to catch up and overcome that. But get a good start from the beginning, and it's no contest.

Heck my 1985 F-150 gets GREAT traction, the whopping 100 rwhp never breaks the tires loose lol. And I could whoop my 700+ rwhp HD truck in a race if I just got instant WOT in the HD, because it'll be crawling as it melts the tires off in a plume of smoke lol.

lol he probably didn't think that first part through all the way, logic is a son of a ****** sometimes :anitoof:

Be careful with the boost on the 3v 5.4. They don't like to handle much. Same weak rods as the 2v 5.4's, along with weaker pistons that are notched for the 3v. The Gen 2 HD trucks had the 3v 5.4 and the saleen trucks with the s/c were good for about 6 lbs of boost, but 8-10 and they seem to pop pretty easily.
