I like having the room and do use it, but the SCREW is 19'4" long. As a result it is too long for my garage. Might want to consider that. The SCREW will be easier to park, have a better break over, and will be a bit better off road since it has a shorter wheel base. And although I love the look of my SCREW, I think the SCAB looks a little better because the shorter cab is more consistent with its offroad pedigree.

I was shopping used but absolutely had to have a SCAB. From the drivers seat it really seems more manageable and less ridiculous to me. Even if it’s only a little bit less ridiculous. I have two kids in car seats that fit fine but my wife’s MDX is the kids+dog road tripper.

I’m in the market for a 2019 or 2020. I’m set on the Scab for the reasons given by others. My only hesitation is towing ability being limited to 6000 pounds. Neither Raptor model will tow my current 20’ car hauler with my Bronco on the deck (8700#), but the Screw would tow the Bronco on an aluminum trailer. I really don’t want the extra length of the Screw. I may end up waiting until the new Bronco is released before buying a Raptor. If the new Bronco was right I’d probably just buy that, but I’m guessing I won’t fit in the ranger platform comfortably.

What I need to wrap my head around is fully replacing my built 1987 Bronco that I’ve had for 22 years with a Raptor. If I didn’t have the Bronco I’d have no need to tow anything and the Scab would suit my needs perfectly. I used to rock crawl the Bronco all over Moab, not something I’d be willing to do in a $65K Raptor. At 43 I’m more risk averse than I was in my 20’s and early 30’s, so my hardcore crawling days may be over anyway. The Bronco needs a repower, I’ve been shopping for a good LS engine for it to replace my 302.

Planning on a raptor and can’t decide between the scab or screw. I really don’t need the extra space in the back as it’s just my wife and I. We are small people anyway so our seats are usually scooted up.

I think it looks better but am I missing out on anything by getting the scab?
Does it handle better than the screw?

My 2 cents worth. My last 3-4 trucks have all been SCREWS. Its just my wife and I and our Bassets which really only travel with us about once per year. But the extra space, say going to the grocery store is a plus as is the larger fuel tank.
Yes not being able to fit in the garage is one thing. Parallel parking is another. I don't have to parallel park much at all and my wife won't go into parking garages even though the Raptor will fit. Do you live in Orange County? Message me if I can help.
I agree with Wimankid, drive em both and see how you feel for yourself.

I love my 2019 SCAB and glad I did not buy a SCREW.
Its a dream to park, U-turns easily and the 26 gal tank has never been a problem.
One thing about the SCAB that might be an annoyance is the rear doors. They can be a problem trying to get them open in a "tight" parking spot.
