I'M A NEWBIE AND I APOLOGIZE IF THIS IS THE WRONG FORUM FOR THIS QUESTION.....

I AM READY TO BUY RAPTOR BUT I AM UNSURE WHETHER TO BUY SCAB OR SCREW! I have driven both and I like the look of SCAB and room of the SCREW but what I was wondering was if some of you guys that are serious offroaders have seen a big difference in the off road handling of the longer wheelbase SCREW?

Part of me thinks the longer wheelbase SCREW is like adding four doors to my Shelby mustang!!! Sure it would be more comfortable in the backseat but that's not the purpose of the car!!!

Thoughts???

Thanks in advance for your input...

It all depends on what YOU want to do with this truck.

Do you need the extra room? Do you anticipate needing the extra room in the future? I got the SCrew because I have a wife, two kids and two dogs who will be riding with me and the extra room made this vehicle fit better into the mix.

Pluses for me with the SCrew:
- Extra room in the back for the family
- Larger gas tank
- More towing capacity

I am no off-road guru, I just like ******** around and having fun. In my opinion, unless you're planning on pushing REALLY hard and trying to max out the truck, it really doesn't make all that much difference between the two models.

I know you're just looking for some guidance but I hate these types of questions.. it's like when my wife asks the waitress what she likes on the menu and I always shake my head.. How the hell do you know that you'll like what she likes?..

This is a personal decision and quite a pricey one.. take a realistic look at what YOU need / want and determine what will make you happy, that's the really important question...

Really depends what you are going to use the truck for. I off road my SCrew without much issues due to the wheel base. But take into consideration that is all desert and not much mountains, mountain roads ect. I use my backseat a lot. If I was to get one just for off roading, I would do a SCab. My PreRunner is a SCrew because that is what I trashed to begin with.

IE: Daily driver with kids: SCrew. Single/married guy with no kids: SCab.

The answer is quite simple... I don't understand why there's any debate on this. It is obvious that the offroad capability is better in a supercab considering the Raptor's already long wheelbase. Making it longer, a supercrew, would just make matters worse in MOST cases.

Third category....OLD married guy with teenagers who have their own cars!

I really think I'm buying a SCAB!

My reasoning is as follows (please feel free to shoot holes in my logic - I am old enough to take advice well:) ):

1. 90 % of the time I will be alone in truck or have one front passenger.
2. If the back seat is cramped my wife won't try to make this the "family" trip vehicle...we'll go in her Mercedes SUV instead (less miles on my truck and fewer french fries in the seat cracks.... :)
3. SCAB just plain looks badass to me....
4. I am selling two vehicles and replacing with this truck - one is a Chevy Duramax Diesel crew and the other is a Shelby GT mustang. SCAB gives me the sporty feel and yet is still a truck!!
5. And don't laugh - the SCAB fits in my garage and the SCREW don't!!!!

These two are the most important points in your message! you love the look of the SCab (me too) and the SCrew won't fit in your garage.

Case closed your honor...

Now go buy your Raptor! :waytogo:

Anything to not have French fries in the seats...I hate that!!

Me too.. that's why I bought a GT Cover for the back seat. Keep the chaos at least a little bit contained.. lol

No matter what I do I feel I'm probably fighting a losing battle but hey, it's a fun battle none the less. My munchkins are awesome so I can't really complain.
