Interesting... Didn't know about this, meet up spot is 10 min from my house

The FB page is a bit short on details. What's the terrain going to be like? I'd like to go but want to be sure my truck will still be in one piece.

Yeah turn out was nuts. On their IG truck count was about 80. Only 1 truck had a real issue at the 4x4 training grounds where it looked like he de-beaded a tire trying to crawl over the tractor tires.

I will 100% have rear dust lights before I go on another run like this though. Small group of trucks (under 10) would've been ok but with this many and the wind, at some points you couldn't see 5-10 ft in front of you.

Overall though it was a lot of fun!

Chase lights really should be mandatory on runs like this. I had a blast but anytime I was behind a truck that didn't have lights I had to slow way down and I'm sure the trucks behind me were wondering why I'm driving like such a *****.

I agree about not having chase lights is a problem, but my suggestion would be to have a group where chase lights and radio were mandatory. Yesterday, there were so many trucks that "WFO" and "Fast" groups could have been established along with Novice and Family groups.

I enjoyed it, but agree it was a little chaotic at times. I actually feel like communication got better after the lunch break. For awhile it was just anyone talking on the radio and first name basis. I had no idea who the lead was or what truck he was driving figured it out afterwards, but I understand it was a really really large group.

At Wyoming Trail Days, The trucks had numbers, but that was too confusing so it evolved into using the position in the group as your number. Things were dustier, the roads were dirt and gravel, so it was important you call out blind turns and hazards as you pasted them. We were spread out more, a couple hundred yards or more between trucks and much smaller group of about 15-20 trucks, so that worked for us.

I didn't get a of pics but here are a few. Run mud flaps for this and they worked. What worked even better was "Track Tape", wow best $25 ever. Saved my paint from rock chips.

My wife actually gave me the okay to buy chase lights. She also realized the importance of them. Yeah, no one calling out hazards. Previous run, lead truck did. For us this improved after the lunch break. San Diego_Raptor did a good job of doing so. I also thought that a numbering system would be nice. Only my second run so I can the difference between this one and the previous.
