Sadly I'm not really feeling the Ford love anymore.

Same tech that worked on it the first time is working on it this time.

As inexpensive as a transmission cost Ford to build they should have just sent a new transmission the first time. And they definitely should have sent one the second time. And now that it still isn't repaired after 3 months you would think that they would have automatically sent them a new transmission.

Why they keep ******** around with the insides of the transmission is absolutely baffling to me.

This job could have been completed in less than a week if Ford would have just sent a transmission to the dealer and swapped it out.

Whenever a problem resurfaces, especially exactly as occurred before, whomever has to look into it needs to work back from last report, through the 1st or previous “resolution” attempt, troubleshooting, symptom reports and then file that as information only, troubleshooting the issue from ground up.

This is why they aren’t just sending in a new transmission.

It’s difficult when it’s your vehicle, but put yourself in the Ford Tech line Engineer’s shoes. You resolved an issue 2 years ago, the same issue has now resurfaced in a relatively short amount of miles. The Engineer knows what is reported, may have photos and knows that for these symptoms there are a finite number of possible causes. Based on the previously disclosed symptoms, the most likely cause was -I believe- the stuck valve body. However, because this problem has resurfaced, they need to know is it exactly the same? If there’s more than one possible cause for this set of problems, now they have to rule out other possible causes, not just the hard parts.

Otherwise, if they send you a new transmission, send you on your way and 10,000 miles later the same problem comes back, you and they are right back in the soup. To avoid this, they need to do a complete review, and troubleshoot from the beginning, using your previous 2 occurrences as only reference material, otherwise confirmation bias will lead them right back to the same, wrong answer.

It’s best to take time and get this correct; although, I’m not saying it hasn’t been enough time already, just that they simply can’t throw parts at the problem and expect a different outcome without narrowing the possibilities down further.

They just removed the transmission today. Ford wants them to go thru it again. I can't believe Ford actually knows how long that I have been without my truck and they are still messing with the original transmission. It will be another month or two before I get it back.

I sent the lady at Ford Customer support a message today and said I would trade it on a 2021 F250 Limited. If she could give me someone's contact info at Ford that had the capacity to make this deal and arrange financing I would just let them keep this truck.

I have no idea what they can authorize and what they cant... im just so tired of waiting on my truck and now my confidence level of this truck ever being right is very very low.

Why can't they drop the tranny, put it on a truck to Dearborn for analysis, and put a brand new one in the OP's truck?

If @rabtech was actually Jay Leno or maybe Chuck Norris, not only would the truck already be fixed, there would be a full explanation of what went wrong and a new pre-production Raptor in his driveway courtesy of Ford. Because all of the major manufacturers wouldn’t permit the possibility of a huge PR disaster it would be to treat someone with that level of potential “reputation killing” social media impact so poorly.

that said, keep in mind that the stealership is primarily responsible for the repairs here. Ford is kind of ‘divorced’ from the process. The engineers are less cognizant of the customer service aspect of the repair. They’re primarily concerned with how to fix the breakage, and remember they’re troubleshooting a problem remotely, and it’s a repeat failure. Repeat failures require some extra care and effort. None of these are excuses, I’m just trying to reiterate it.

To directly answer @GordoJay - cost. Can they do it? sure. but, it will cost a pretty penny to box up the transmission, ship it to a facility for analysis and ensure the customer has a replacement transmission.

I have hard time sympathizing with the dealer here and agree that Ford should be stepping in to retain a potential future customer and prevent a very possible customer defection.

Ford has bought back at least 1 2019 Raptor that I know of and replaced the transmission. It then got sent back out to another Ford dealer in Bloomington, IL for sale. It had 15,000 miles on it. Very nicely optioned truck and it had a factory warranty. The car fax showed all of this information and the dealer was forward with acknowledging the transmission replacement from Ford. The truck was originally sold in Florida.

I hope your truck gets fixed correctly and you get it back.

I'm waiting on a call to see if they have even touched my transmission. If I were betting ,,, I would say that it's out of the truck and has not been opened up yet. I'll update if I hear anything. We are definitely going to be over 4 months just on this repair. I'm curious now if they take 5 months on this repair.

Well today they got a seal in and tried it. It is worse after they tried it than before.

Service advisor admitted that they have no idea what they are going to do next.

I have no idea what to do or who to call. I can't get past the lady at the customer support number.

I am going to just say it like this...... I am at the end of my rope..... I need some help with this issue. I need my truck back. I am making payments every month for a vehicle I haven't had for almost a half of year.

I can't believe that Ford can just keep someone's truck indefinitely.

Please if someone knows a person at Ford that can help. Please contact me. Also if someone knows an attorney that can help me with Ford and recovering some of my money I have spent and not had a vehicle.
