Rusting Raptor Rocker panels

EDIT: NOTE THE FOLLOWING SIZES ARE NOT EXACT, AFTER POSTING THIS AND SOURCING PLUGS I FOUND THAT NOTABLY THE LARGER HOLES ARE A METRIC SIZE. RE-MEASURE YOURS TO BE SURE

If anybody wants to try to get rubber plugs for these holes, here is a list of what you would need for a SCab (Screw likely would need a few more)

2 x 3/4" round
6 x 1 1/2" round
6 x 1 3/4" x 1" rectangular (for sidestep holes - yes there are three each side)
4 x 7/16" round (for unused sidestep mounting holes)
2 x 2" x 1" oval
2 x 1" x 3/4" oval

This list is for the rocker holes only and does not cover the floor holes that Dave (the OP of the plug kit idea) was worried about. IMO those are likely to be better left open as they are at the lowest point of a cavity. It also does not cover the taped under carpet floor hole.

Hope this helps - I am going to look into getting some plugs together for my own use.

What also could happen is this area would be a prime place to fill up if you've ever been in a mud hole, sloshing through there. Luckily I never have been.

Looking at my rockers it looks like they are starting to bulge at the seams. Kind of weird considering only 2 holes weren't covered and the entire passenger side is completely sealed still yet same issue. I'm guessing the salt worked itself through the drain hole at the bottom of the seam.





My plan is to hit the inside hard with film fluid, which I've used on all my seams, then sanding and try and paint por15 inside seam and along rocker. Then gorilla tape.

I had the same issue, Canadian truck and may trips to the sand dunes on the coast. The factory tape comes off and the rockers fill with crap. Being in the always wet PNW, rust can happen. I flushed the rockers out with a hose a few times. Once dried, treated with phosphoric acid to etch and stop the rust. I'll do the Eastwood rust treatment spray with the hose extension next dry season. For the time being I covered all factory holes with HD duct tape.

The gorilla tape on mine is holding up great after a year. I'll be redoing it soon. I also hit the holes with fluid film first.

I heard the rust has to perforate through the metal which is frigged.

I have my doubts that spraying the corrosion protection in the inside will do anything for my situation. My rust is exposed from the outside and the inside is still mint condtion. Also the spray didn't seem to run into the seam and drains. Just not runny enough. I did spray the outside which seemed to absorb into the seam and rust. I'm still planning on por15 the exposed rust and seam and hopefuly absorbs far enough in to prevent any more movement. Will finish with seam sealer.
