I have a 2017 Raptor no mods. While driving on the highway at 85 not towing temp reached 230-240. Has this happened to anyone?

Not me. I have a 2018 with no mods and on the freeway at 85+ it runs around 210 (maybe 215 in the summer).

City Boy, I have had the same issue for months, literally just returned from Ford service, they changed the hose coming from the reservoir, told me I was good to go. 1 mile away from dealer I jump on highway and not only did they not fix it, its worse. At 75 mph I let off the gas and the temp climbs to 235-237, when I get back on the gas it goes back down to below 226. I just called the service dept back and they are completely confused and have to do some research and call me back. This is 4 weeks after having my truck in service for 7 weeks getting a new transmission. Really getting tired, love to hear if anyone else had this problem and what the fix was.

Welcome to the place, Congrats on your Raptor. Make sure the dampers are open and the cooling fan is on, if you pull over to the side of the road, does the temp go back down?

Yes, I have a 2017 and mine got hot as well and the fan always came on. The Ford dealer was clueless, so I installed a SPD 170 Degree thermostat. Now, I never hit above 225f degrees.

I’m dropping truck off at dealer tomorrow. If they can’t get it right I will get the SPD installed. Thanks for the info

I have a 2017 with no mods. It does the same thing from time to time but they are momentary spikes. As soon as I ease out of the throttle the temps go back down. I was curious about it as well but not overly concerned since they are temporary spikes. I plan to do an inter cooler upgrade soon and will be removing the dampers. I think this will eliminate the temporary temp fluctuations. I purchased my truck mid Dec 2020.

The temperature gauge doesn’t have any numbers, just H or C. When it starts to get too hot it will start displaying at number 238 etc. if it doesn’t display any numbers then it isn’t hot
