Yesterday I dropped my truck at the dealer and through the conversation we had he mentioned that the 2020 Raptor will have a V8 and he was confident about it. He also mentioned that Ford wont announce it until they get rid of 80% of the 2019 stock. I don't know how true he is but that's what he told me.

One dealer in phoenix has 20+ raptors on the lot , i was poking around their website and inquired about a Performance Blue super cab spec just like i would order it, they have been leaving messages every day for 2 weeks now.

FOrd did not have a raptor in 2015 and 2016.

Moving F150s to aluminum and recreating the Raptor from the ground up had a lot to do with that. Are they going to re-engineer a whole nother frame for example? I mean they could but I highly doubt it since they now have a purpose built frame for the Rap. And do they need to fully invest in retooling for aluminum this time? Again maybe some but not to the extent of 2015.

I'm sure there are many other factors too that don't apply this time around for 2020/2021. I can see it being released later than normal, but not skipping a whole year or two like they did in the past.

Valid points. I think they will skip at least 1 year if not 2 to allow dealerships to sell their GEN2s on their lots BEFORE the gen3 become available.

I highly doubt Ford is going to delay the release of a highly anticipated vehicle so dealers can clear their overstock. Heck, the only reason the overstock exists is because they sat on them with ADMs for months. This is no different than it is with literally every other car or dealer. Dealers will have to drop prices and provide other incentives to move their overstock and make room for the new stuff. Now Ford may also offer a manufacturer incentive on top of that, but a 2 year grace period so dealers can move old stock? Unlikely IMO.

Did you follow the Gen 2 release back in 17? If so, youd know they held out the release of the Gen 2 for a few reasons. It may happen again since Ford focuses all its efforts on the next gen F150, then it will turn its attention to the Raptor. They also seen how a 2 year lull between Gen 1 and Gen 2 drove prices crazy at dealers.

There's overstock because Gen 2s aren't a limited production run. And there's hundreds of dealers offering discounts now on Raptors, but even before that, many weren't over charging for these trucks.

Im not saying there won’t be any delays for a Gen3. I’m saying dealer stock won’t be one of them.

That's damn true lol, if anything dealers will have even more inventory than now. I wish Ford would limit production, but it's a cash cow so they'll milk it dry.
