Holy hell...this thread has more smack-talking, double-guessing, shade-tree wrenching, goobilty **** know-nuttin, ass-grabbin, lollygaggin TROLLING than I've seen since the world was supposed to end. Can't we all get along and just beat the hell out of a Raptor or two? Not even Obama got put under all this scrutiny and he's running guns these days!

If ya don't think these guys at RPG are spot on with their stuff (and from what I can tell, they are), don't buy it! Just don't go cryin' to momma or asking for a tow from the Raptor with RPG arms that just spanked you when your pansy-asses are sitting all broke-ass busted on a hump in the middle of sand land, too far from home to walk there and get new ******* from your mommas! For your sakes I just hope you aren't over the border and some Federalis come asking you why you parked in their desert.

Nobody is trolling, only the ones jumping in with a single post on how people are starting to "get it ON" and "trolling" are the ones trying to fuel a fire that isn't even there.

Several of us on here are engineers and are more interested in how things WORK, and the actual execution of tests to back up the claims. If consumers simply blindly accept whatever claims are tossed out there, consumers will get suckered in for being fed a lot of chit! I am very impressed on how RPG handled this whole situation, and supported the discussion, and are planning to go through with some testing. I understand they only want to give so much information, but they have supported pretty well on questions so far. And actually, while I really have no need for these as my truck won't go off road all that often, and the price at first had me going "not a chance" despite how cool they do look installed, after seeing how this has progressed, if the test results match the original claims, I'd actually be pretty swayed towards getting a set eventually. I can't help it, I'm an engineer and I'll gladly support a FRF vendor that goes to this extent at the request of members to validate a product. If their response was just how dare a customer question their engineering judgement and end of story, I'd be back on my "not a chance" for purchasing these. Now I'm on the borderline.

Please post pics of the setup, and a vid if possible. Will you be able to see at what load the rods fail at?

I actually think the entire tensile strength discussion is pointless because most tie rods fail when you try to turn against an obstacle or land on the outside of the tire from a jump and the tie rod folds under compression. I can say with some certainty that the tie rods will likely never see the type of tension to rip it apart at the threads and if it did "other stuff" would break first or the tie rod would simply rip in half.

Well, if we are looking for testing results from this to determine whether or not I purchase a set for my truck...I for one am not looking for the parts to pulled apart on a frame machine!!! If test results are what I want I will look for a company that would send these parts out to a place that would use a Instron Tensile, Compression, Fatigue, Impact, Rheology, testing.. I can recommend JP testing in Sterling Heights, Mi... They would do this for them... Or if, I was still testing I might be able to sneak a few tests in unaccounted for... he he he...

and as RPG mentioned, paying for testing can be quite pricey. There's a balance point for everything. They could have said they weren't going to entertain that discussion and the guys who want some testing can go scratch, they're fine with selling it to guys who will buy on blind faith alone. Or they could have went to the other extreme and said okay they'll pay for testing in every spectrum and shell out major dollars but the cost of the product will have to reflect that. Instead they're taking a reasonable middle road, and doing a relatively reasonable comparison test, that isn't going to drive the cost of the product up, but does provide some verification behind claims on the product.

pulling the parts apart on a frame machine with videos just dont get... I aint telling then to pay for testing... Relative to what they are saying all the data they want has been compiled and would just take leg work for some conclusions... Thread pitch, contact area, metal strength and some of your engineering calculations would be a better guess that pulling them apart on a frame machine... I would rather see torque to yield testing which is not expensive at all at least you would know what point you are going to fail...

I totally agree with you. We do know someone who can confirm with an Instron test but they want us to pay a pretty penny for it. And right now that really isn't do-able. The real point of putting them on a frame straightner is just to give people a comfort zone of knowing the rod-end isn't going to pull out of the rod. Honestly, both the factory tie-rods,RPG tie rod or any other most likely will not fail at that point for the reason Birdman said. Remember, the majority of the time Tie-rod failure happens at the balljoint, or some other part of the rod. You would have to go sideways as all hell and then slam into a boulder for this to ever even be an issue. And if that happens, stuff has gone down hill real quick anyway.

I know one thing.. I am not concerned about this failure ppl are talking about... I know testing can cost lots... Since most labs need 10-15 parts for real base but, I have tested with 1 or 2 parts as long as I was not trying to generate a torque spec for assembly... If it were me doing this pull I would try to find a way to measure the tension at the failure point.. Since what you are doing is only for ***** and giggles... How about Like 5 or 6 different size cables for the hook up... Like 1/4, 5/16, 3/8, 7/16 and 1/2... Knowing the break strength of the cable at least you will got some idea where the thing pulled out... and i know it would be fun as hell!!! Shit, if I was around ya Id do this for the fun of it...
