Its pretty clear to me that Jarrett from SVC is thankful that he had a harness bar kit in his truck at TRR when he smashed into a Cattle Guard Pole.. Ask Him.. He was very thankful and knew that it saved his life... Ask the passenger Frank also.. When the Passengers side airbag went off he had his arms crossed in front of his face... Well, having been around the block for a few years, if you cross your arms in front of your face when the airbag goes off, you brake your arms and your face...

So take it for what it is.. Jarrett is still alive and Frank didnt brake his face.. Neither of which Submarined.. (Ususally caused by your lap belts being to loose)

I see where you are trying to steer this but I will not alter my heading.....

If you wanted this to be a Harness Bar Kit and not a Bolt-in Cage there is an easier way to make one that would not be misinterpreted as Cage... or give you the false sense of security of having a cage.

I think this Harness Bar Kit would be disastrous to it's occupants in a roll over like this http://www.fordraptorforum.com/f65/gbrown-1867-build-21452/index20.html. Thankfully Mr. Brown had a great and proper cage built for him. But I see the Harness Bar Kit being potentially fatal in a similar incident.

There is NO question that 4/5 points in a caged truck is extremely safe, but EVERYONE needs to realize just how unsafe it is to run race harnesses in a none caged truck. The porpoise of race harness is to keep you planted and not moving from side to side or downwards, now what happens when the roof comes crashing down on you, your body has no where to go which means your heads going to get crushed(I seen it myself in Barstow and it's not pretty).

This is why I don't believe in harness bars with out a proper cage to go with it. How much is your life worth?... Worth enough to wait and save enough money to do something right? Or do you just want cheap instant gratification and roll the dice to see if God wants to have a face to face conversation with you that day?

hmm, this is an interesting thread. never was a fan of bolt in..... "harness bars" not that giving them a different name really changes what they actually are.

I think $10K plus or minus can be a fairly accurate price by the time you factor in a Gucci headliner, plush race seats, custom carpet, paint, dash remove/install etc... Shoot, 2" chromoly alone is probably in the $2,500 range for just raw material.

10K for a cage? where are you finding these shops?

Right here in So. Cal. Some of which are vendors on this forum. RPG, Outlaw, SVC..... I'm sure others outside of So. Cal. will have similar pricing if these guys are not close to you.

10k is an average. It depends on how intricate you want to make it. Basic, but still very safe, is less. And the more bells and whistles added is more. You can see examples right here on this forum.

Most quotes I've seen and been given is around 10k. A great bargain for my priceless ass.
Gotta love Raptor taxes. If your serious and want to cage your truck I can give you a list of guys that can build the cage for MUCH less and the quality will be more than adiquite

I remember what you spent on your cage, do you think it was worth "X" cost? I personally thought the price was right at what most honest shops should charge

No need to spend $9 a foot on 4130(buzz words) just run DOM and save 1/2 the money on materials.

I mean let's be honest here, fab guys are almost always 1099'ed, make $10-12 an hour and are always over worked, so regardless of what the shop is charging you, your still get an under paid fabricator doing the work
